A Tennessee statewide AMBER Alert has been issued by the TBI on behalf of the Maury County Sheriff Department for 15-year old Elizabeth Thomas. She is white, blonde hair, hazel eyes, 5’5” and 120 pounds, last seen wearing a flannel shirt and black leggings. She may be in the area of Decatur, Alabama. Thomas is believed to be in the company of 50-year old Tad Cummins, white male, 6’0”, 200 pounds, brown hair and eyes. He is believed to be armed with two handguns and driving a Silver Nissan Rogue, TN tag, 976-ZPT. A warrant has been issued for Cummins for Sexual Contact with a Minor. Thoughts and Questions in my mind:1. He will abandon his vehicle - already planned that ahead of time - he has to know that there will be an Amber Alert issued, so the vehicle has to go. Investigators with the TBI say they are trying to understand some of Cummins' actions in the weeks leading up to the AMBER Alert. They say he secured a title loan for a personal vehicle several day before his disappearance netting $4,500 in cash. whnt.com/2017/03/15/who-is-tad-cummins-tbi-investigates-his-involvement-in-amber-alert-disappearance/2. Nissan Rogue - Silver - With or without the tag number, people should be looking for an abandoned vehicle. It may be intact or burned. 3. He loves Jeeps - Used car lots should be made aware 4. They won't be using social media - possibly use burn phones - will most likely toss both their personal phones - if anyone should find a phone, it would be good to check and see if it's one of theirs. 5. They need to eat - if it were me, I would shop at an out of the way grocery store, stock up on food. Someone is apparently not able to have gluten so those products will be purchased. 6. Looking through his instagram posts - Does HE think he's GOD? Lots of posts about God showing the WAY. One of his posts has a wolf on it and the saying is: "Your first mistake was thinking that I'm one of your sheep". 7. Elizabeth loves beaches - Mexico has them - Florida has them - My guess is Mexico eventually 8. There are a number of state parks on the route that Tad seems to have taken, also camp grounds, they can't just pull off the highway and sleep. Around Atlanta my hunch is where he's decided exactly where to go. Sweaer Creek State Park is there. Open year round. Hiking-9 miles of trails, closed at dark. A Parkpass is required for all vehicles. Price for parkpasses are not included with the reservation. Overnight guests pay only one fee for the duration of their stay. (the only problem is that there would be a record of his stay - if he's thinking at all he should know this< since he's planned this out so well).

Just adding a few other thoughts:
9. Regarding the guns that he took with them, I really feel that those are for protection out in the woods, and in one article that I read said that Elizabeth hunted. I'll need to do some searching for that article, I've read so many and that statement hit me as very important to remember.
10. I don't feel that he will hurt her, if they are caught he may harm himself because of the humiliation he's feeling. And, by the sounds of everything that's been said about him personally he couldn't live with himself knowing that she's out there and he's behind bars, and that surely will happen when he's caught.

UPDATE: The TBI has determined the purchase of hair dye by Tad Cummins was not part of his intended plan for #ElizabethThomas. #TNAMBERAlert www.facebook.com/hashtag/tnamberalert?source=feed_text&story_id=10158480614285038I'm posting this because this information is interesting I do feel that to alter both their appearances hair dye surely would be used, along with shaving, etc. However the dye that he bought that day must have been used by another member of his family, because of the way it's been stated that the purchase had nothing to do with Elizabeth.

My Thoughts: If he researched the OnStar capabilities of his vehicle then I doubt that he thought ahead to have purchased another one before they left. So then we all can be the judge on what he would think of to do next. What would you do? Even if he turned that feature off his license plate would still be clearly displayed which would mean there would be no alternative left than to ditch it ASAP. He may have the money to pay for an old beater but it would need to be reliable. They can't live out on the land forever.
If I were him right now, I would turn her in, leave her somewhere safe, then go alone because at this point he's in for a world of hurt if he doesn't. And he can't marry her, unless he's thought far enough ahead to have already changed his identity.

There's been much said about this KISS that Cummins gave Elizabeth. I found an interesting article this morning on it. If you can get past the thinking that Tad is in the wrong here and that he's a perv, maybe take a second look and not rush to judgement.Culleoka Unit School principal Penny Love reprimanded former health sciences teacher Tad Cummins on Feb. 3 for allowing 15-year-old freshman Elizabeth Thomas to come into his classroom after he was ordered to keep her out, Cummins' personnel file shows. The Maury County Public School District released Cummins' file at the request of Columbia attorney Jason Whatley, who is representing Thomas' father, Anthony Thomas. Cummins, 50, joined the school's faculty in 2011 without a four-year degree, according to the documents. "I have determined to issue a formal OFFICIAL REPRIMAND for the following Code of Conduct violation," Love's letter to Cummins said. "On Jan. 31, you were instructed not to allow Thomas into your classroom. On Jan. 31, Thomas was instructed not to be in your classroom and to seek counseling from the CUS High School Guidance Counselor, Alison Reischman, if needed. "On Feb. 3, Thomas was in your classroom from 12:11 p.m.-12:44 p.m. This was a violation of my directive to you on Jan. 31." Three days after the reprimand — on Feb. 6 — Cummins received a hand-delivered letter from Maury County Public Schools Superintendent Chris Marczak, suspending him. "This letter is official notification that you are hereby suspended from your position with Maury County Public Schools, pending an investigation," Marczak wrote. "You are suspended without pay until further notice. Be aware that this suspension is effectively immediately." Marczak referred Cummins to Maury Schools Chief of Staff Amanda Hargrove, who handled the investigation, for questions. In her investigation report, Hargrove wrote a student notified school administration on Jan. 24 that she saw Cummins kiss Thomas in his classroom the previous afternoon. Cummins was Thomas' teacher for a forensics class in third period. The Daily Herald identified the girl Monday who reported Cummins as a seventh-grade honor student. "Student 1 [the honor student] states that while walking into Mr. Tad Cummins' room to retrieve her bag, she witnessed Mr. Cummins kissing Beth Thomas. In her written statement, Student 1 states, 'It wasn't like a make-out kiss, just a peck on the lips.' " The student told Hargrove that she was uncomfortable after the incident and left the room, according to the investigative report. She told another student she was "freaked out" by what she saw. Hargrove also interviewed Thomas and Cummins. Thomas said she went to Cummins' room because she becomes "upset and anxious" during the school day. Cummins confirmed that, the report said. "She looks at him like a friend and a counselor who knows how to calm her down when she is experiencing anxiety," Hargrove wrote. "She stated students hang out in his classroom a lot. Everyone goes to him if they need to talk to someone. "She denies Mr. Cummins ever kissed her. She denies Mr. Cummins has ever acted inappropriately with her or with any other student. She has gone to church with him a few times but mainly hung around his wife. She stated that Mr. Cummins has never made her feel uncomfortable and has never touched her except maybe a fist bump from time to time, and he grabbed her hands to calm her down one time." In her interview with the former teacher, who was fired when he was charged with a crime, Cummins denied acting inappropriately. "Tad Cummins denies the incident every took place," Hargrove wrote. "[He] admits Beth is a really good friend, and she does leave her other classes to come see him when she needs someone to calm her down. [He] denies giving Beth a kiss/peck on the cheek or mouth."He states him [sic] and his wife have picked Beth up for church a time or two. Mr. Cummins has no idea why another student might make this accusation. He always leaves his door open and is very rarely alone with a student. He loves his wife and has never cheated on his wife and would never do anything to jeopardize his marriage."The student who says she saw them kissing told family members they were sitting side by side, with Cummins' young grandson, a Culleoka student, in the room. She said Thomas saw her and assumed Cummins did, too. www.columbiadailyherald.com/news/20170320/cummins-let-freshman-in-his-classroom-even-after-being-ordered-to-stop-school-report-saysIn reading this, and taking a step back from the rush to judgement, it would seem that Elizabeth was pretty close to the Cummings family, even so far as to be hanging out with Tad's wife, and going to church with them. I'm wondering how the grandson who was in the room missed the "kiss". Beth denies it and he denies it. I can see how this could all be blown out of proportion and in some churches, members do give pecks on the cheek, the mouth no.
And as far as him looking up teen marriage, it would seem that his room was a haven for many students who came to just hang out there. If the research was done on the school computer, anyone could have been looking that up, or he could have been looking it up for someone else. Beth is young but far from stupid, she would know that he was already married and couldn't marry her. The research about the OnStar, WOULD be something that he would look up, that I will admit.
What I'm getting at here is this is all conjecture, we don't know who did what for certain, all we have are bits and pieces of a puzzle that has yet to be put together. Could this all be his way of taking charge of a situation, not advantage of one? Either way he needs to rethink this mess and drop her off somewhere safe so that she can come home. There has been abuse in her family, but now that all of that has come to light, it wouldn't happen anymore, so, end this now and just let her come home to family that do love her and friends that need her in their lives.

Decatur is only an hour away, I was mistaken. If the cell ping was around 3:00pm, he was putting gas in the car at 8:35am before he picked up Elizabeth. That should have put them in Decatur around 11:00am, I even gave them about a half an hour time of departure. So, what were they doing if they didn't immediately hit the road?williamsonsource.com/video-of-tad-cummins-before-vanishing-with-elizabeth-thomas/Did they go shopping and risk staying in that area, or did they immediately get on the road and stop somewhere on the way heading to Decatur?

A few random thoughts that I've been pondering and that are bothering me:
1. Why would she mention to the sister, that if she wasn't home by 6:00 to call the authorities when in the very last picture of her that we see she's carrying things in her arms to his car? I'm assuming that's where she's headed in the picture. Or carrying it in. I know, she had told her family that she would be with a friend, so she would need things. But the most important thing about what the sister says that Beth told her, was that if she was going to a friends home, then if what the sister says is true, did she feel that this friend would keep her?? I mean come on now, no one at this time knew that Beth would go missing. It's just a silly statement to make, which is why I don't think that she said it. I'll put a few more thoughts here later in this thread.
2. This wedding ring status that she has on her Twitter account. I saw it and thought wow was she having some wishful thinking, but when it came to light, that there had been some research going on about teen marriage, that put a tiny piece of the puzzle together for me, because she was so close to him, that I'll bet my hat she was doing the looking into it on his computer at school, not him. I think he had given her the go ahead to use his computer when she wanted to. He didn't put that status on her Twitter, SHE did.
3. At this point I don't give a rats ass about how he got the school job, to me that's secondary to the fact that we have a run away girl, there I said it. Yes indeed he is an authority figure and shouldn't have taken things as far as he has now, but he has. Now, lets move on and find Beth because no matter what, whether she decided that she was leaving had been planning on it, she's too young to make that decision. I'm old but I do still remember that teenagers do stupid things, I sure did. I'm 62 and I STILL do them. None of us are beyond reproach.
4. He's a narcissist pure and simple, and here's the definition you tell me if I'm right or wrong with what we know about Tad thus far:
Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
Believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
Requires excessive admiration
Has a very strong sense of entitlement, e.g., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations Is exploitative of others, e.g., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
Lacks empathy, e.g., is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her Regularly shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes
Now really? All of those traits are him, so all he was triggered to make some sort of move that would make HIM feel good, and he has to be a Marvel Comic Book reader because if this isn't a Batman, "save the GIRL" kinda moment I don't know what is. What a moron he is, he lost his job and he went postal. Never thinking about how this was going to effect tons of people, including people that didn't even know either Beth or him 10 days ago, yet here we are trying to figure out how to get this young girl back to where she needs to be.
5. Thank God I'm not on any other forum and this one is mine so I can tell you that I DO NOT think that he's a perv. And there are several reasons that I say that and for now I'll give one example. Their Twitter accounts. His account is very benign as far as lovey dovey stuff, mostly all uplifting posts, stay stong, etc. Her's is pure love, devotion, trust, and crazy teenage thinking, example: (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST). Her own father, in her eyes is weak, Tad is strong, so now she's all mixed up, Tad hasn't only taken on a father figure for her, he has all the traits that she needs to then, fall in love. And that's exacty what she's done.

6. What would he do with his vehicle now that he's looked up the OnStar and if his car has it I'm not really certain because I've seen various people say that the 2015's didn't have it, non the less, what would he do knowing that it could be tracked, would he attempt to then research how to turn it manually off? Would he risk putting fake plates on it? Would he abandon it and run the risk of it being found, and then needing another form of transportation, having to buy it, and then run the risk of someone who's selling it, see him?
And how do we know that it was him researching this? She's by all accounts (if true) told her sister to call the authorities is she isn't home on time, she's researched (possibly her) teen marriage, and she left her phone on, so that's how they got the cell ping. Could this possibly all be a big game to her? She's leaving bread crumbs everywhere.
Yes I know that all seems contradictory her doing the research, but he is a forensic's teacher, he's taught those kids about how an investigation works, what evidence can be left behind by a perp.
So, let's get back to what he's going to do for transportation, is he keeping the Nissan? Because if he had already made sure that he would have another one ready and waiting, then why rearch OnStar?

I was just sitting making meatballs and of course my brain runs non stop about Beth. What on earth would a 50 year old and a 15 year old do and talk about all day long out in the wilderness? Yes they would need to collect wood for a campfire and that would take time, but the rest of the time, how interesting could it be for them to last any time at all out there together.
They are both going to get tired of this, because life on the run must really suck. I can't see them hold up in someone's unoccupied home. I doubt that he would run the risk of suddenly be imposed upon by the owner happening by to check on the place. And if it was an abandoned place I doubt that it would have electricity or running water. If this were the case they would need light and fresh water, so the water would need to be close to the place.
And how would you just randomly fall upon an abandoned place and be absolutely certain that no one would be creeping around. Did he also do research on abandoned properties? I dunno, but this is all beginning to let me know that they can't stay gone forever. The first time she gets sick he's going to panic, and boom, she will be back home, unless he thinks so much of himself that he will think that he's a medical marvel and try and treat her.

Breaking News: Did kidnap-girl intentionally leave clue at restaurant?www.crimeonline.com/2017/03/23/breaking-news-did-kidnapped-tn-teen-leave-a-clue-behind-at-a-restaurant/Nancy Grace spoke with Tennessee District Attorney General, Brent Cooper, on Thursday on her Crime Stories podcast, and he revealed more information about the missing Maury County teen and her former teacher, who likely abducted her. The prosecutor offered new clues that suggest the teen did not leave voluntarily. Tad Cummins, 50, and his former student, Elizabeth Thomas, 15, were last seen on March 13 at a Shoney’s restaurant in Columbia, Tennessee. According to Cooper, at least from his understanding, the teen brought two bags with her to the restaurant, yet left one of the bags behind. What this means is anyone’s guess at this point, but Cooper surmised that it could mean she possibly changed her mind about leaving.

While people think that they were just passing by Decatur, I honestly feel that the gas situation became an issue. Why didn't either of their phones ping anywhere else along the route down? My guess is while getting gas, Beth turned hers on to check something online.
Could this have been when she changed her status on Instagram? If so, and he sees that she's messing with the phone, he freaks. He now knows that the signal can be traced, so then he would also know that law enforcement would be right on it. Now, he's forced to get to somewhere and hunker down.
There are only really two directions that someone could take, go deeper into Decatur, or get back on I-65 and head south. Would he run the risk of getting back on the highway at that point? Everyone seems to be forgetting the fact that if he is still driving, he would need to be stopping multiple times for gas. Can't risk that in my opinion.

Bankhead National Forest is where I would head. All back roads, and if he didn't use back roads, route 24 straight out of Decatur would get him there. Note: There's also a Walmart Super Center enroute, not that he would risk stopping. www.forestcamping.com/dow/southern/bankinfo.htm

Well I gave the moron the benefit of the doubt, but this is sure proof that more than just a father daughter, friendship was afoot. Shame on you Tad, wowwie.Investigators released new details about the communications between 15-year-old Elizabeth Thomas and Tad Cummins before they disappeared. Maury County DA Brent Cooper revealed that the two were writing emails but not sending them. “They would write the message and let it save as a draft. The other person would log in, read the message, and then delete it and then write another message that was saved as a draft,” explained Cooper. According to investigators, Thomas and Cummins used Cummmin’s school email to write inappropriate messages to each other. The district attorney told WAAY 31 he couldn’t go into details about what exactly was written in the email drafts. “If you read them you would immediately recognize you are reading messages between two people who have a romantic interest in each other,” stated Cooper. However, the lead investigator on the case did share one of the messages. “’I saw you standing next to your backpack this morning,’ and makes a reference to a body part of hers and how nice that looked,” said Marcus Alright, an investigator in the case. wkrn.com/2017/03/24/investigators-thomas-cummins-communicated-through-draft-emails/

Tad has hit two snags so far, one was when they had to double back for the backpack that Beth left at Shoney's, and the other was her turning on her phone, thus the ping was noticed.
I'm going to use Occam's razor principal here, and that means: Suppose there exist two explanations for an occurrence. In this case the simpler one is usually better. Another way of saying it is that the more assumptions you have to make, the more unlikely an explanation is.
Now that he's hit those two snags, and more than likey knows enough about police work to know that the ping would give away his location, (remember they say it was HIM looking up how to possibly disable the OnStar). At that point, he had to hit the dirt, stay put and think. If what they say about he and Beth staying at a Decatur hotel is true, then that part of what I'm saying here is important.
He has two ways of thinking, and he's got to have a map. He knows that if he gets back on the road, he will never make it to the border. By now he has to know there's been an Amber Alert and an APB put out. If he can't make it to the border, the forest areas around Decatur is the next best idea, at least until things have cooled down.
Also by all accounts he was looking for work in that area, so he planned on staying for a little while.
He's within 100 mile radius of Decatur. He can't risk making a move right now, and he better hope that he's changed his look up sufficiently by now, and keeps Beth out of sight, or he's screwed.

If my calculations are correct, using Decatur at the center point, then working outward, Chattanooga, and Birmingham are the other points. Whatever is in the center of that area, is the most likely place that he hunkered down and will be located. With access to fresh water, yet hidden enough. Bankhead National Forest would still be within that 100 mile radius.

I'm looking for anywhere in the Bankhead National Forest where they could go undetected, and have access to water because really, that's the one most important thing, and of course isolation as much as possible.
Located in Bankhead National Forest, Clear Creek is the largest recreation area on Lake Lewis Smith. It offers a day use group picnic site, and campground.
The day use areas stay open year-round.
Bankhead National Forest is located in northwestern Alabama, and its prominent feature is the Sipsey Wilderness. Known as "The Land of a Thousand Waterfalls," it's an area of abundant streams, old-growth forests, limestone bluffs and lush canyons.
Day-use visitors and campers have access to a boat ramp and swim beach.
All facilities are wheelchair-accessible. Flush toilets, drinking water and showers are offered for both campers and day use visitors.
GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude): 34.02139, -87.26917 34°1'17"N, 87°16'9"W
Clear Creek Campground is located about 60 miles northwest of Birmingham. From US-78 in Jasper, Alabama, take Highway 195 north for 5 miles. Turn onto County Road 27 and continue northeast for 8 miles to the campground.
There they would have all they needed, all they would need is to stay out of site as much as possible.

After seeing pictures of the military camo netting available to anyone hunting or camping OR hiding out, I'm convinced that they are deep in the forest. If he had one of these tents large enough, it could cover the vehicle AND them and they wouldn't be noticed either from the ground or the air, unless you were directly on top of them. www.google.com/search?q=Military+Camouflage+Woodlands+Camo+Net.&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjSmrq64vXSAhUKuBoKHVE2AKkQsAQIkQE&biw=848&bih=425#imgrc=vDiswuQ1t1FCnM:
This is scaring me now. If he's watching at least some of the coverage of this case, then he has to know that he's now on the FBI's most wanted list. He knows that he is deep doodoo, and needs to hide.
What then would she be thinking and feeling. Desperation I would think. But, would he let her know? My thinking is that two weeks out he would have to tell her something. He can't keep up the story of a romantic get away, when they only thing they are doing is sitting out in the woods under a camo tent, day after day.
She's not used to this way of life, she needs showers. They would need to be in a place where showers are available but it would need to be close to any spot they were camping that could be walked to. That vehicle is his downfall if anyone spots it, so he can't risk it coming out. And if my thinking is correct, he filled the tank up in Decatur, so it's pretty full right now.
