Missing Persons of America updated their story (some of it is not new): Will more victims be found connected to the alleged killer of Mickey Shunick? UPDATE: If you look at the comments below you will see I have been receiving comments on this post, including one from Brandon's cousin, Gary Lavergne, marketing his serial killer books. This is what I got so far: I did not originally include men in the below list, as Brandon was accused of killing two woman. BUT, as more info surfaces, I am wondering if I should have added them. Is it possible Brandon is responsible for his Uncle's death in 1999? It is a little confusing to follow the below info, so keep in mind you may have to read it a couple of times. :-) AND once again, I am NOT saying that Brandon is responsible for any other killings and I am aware that he has not even had a trial yet, so he an alleged killer. Claire Gianfala, (the woman that has been telling the media that BSL stalked her) Ellis Slocum and Kevin Atchinson were in a traffic accident on June 19, 1999 that resulted in Kevin Atchinson's death. Kevin Atchinson was suppose to be driving per the police report. Lisa Pate's body was found under the floor boards of the house that Kevin Atchinson lived in, but please note that Lisa reportedly died of asphyxiation on July 3, 1999 and Kevin had died June 19, 1999. Lisa Pate, per police, was murdered by Brandon. Leander "Black" Venable is Brandon's uncle. Black Venable, 65, was a butcher and he was found murdered in his home on March 1, 1999. I cannot find anything on this case and cannot verify it was a murder or not. Nolan Lavergne is another of Brandon's uncles and is a police officer and Gary Lavergne is Nolan's son (Brandon's cousin) and write's books on serial killers. Previous story - Brandon Scott Lavergne, 33, of Church Point, La., was indicted Wednesday for first-degree murder of missing Michaela "Mickey" Shunick, reports USA Today. Lavergne was also indicted for the murder of Lisa Pate, 35, of Youngsville, La., who went missing in 1999. Her body was found under some large boards in a field near Church Point. The warrants for Lavergne shows Lavergne's address as 143 Elaine Lane, Church Point and a work address of 2550 Bellechasse Hwy, Gretna, La., which is a staffing company. Note: Youngsville, La. is about 30 minutes away from Layfayette where Mickey disappeared. Church Point is about 25 minutes away from Layfayette. Although Lisa was released from jail in November 1998 in Lafayette and she was know to frequent that area and Lake Charles. Also, in 1999, while Lavergne was serving in the Army at Fort Polk he sexually assaulted Evangeline Parish. He was driving a '93 Ford pickup with La. license plate of S074500. (Note: Police collected DNA (sperm from a washcloth) at the scene. This evidence may have been what helped them connect Lavergne to Pate.) in April, Lavergne married Lainey Vasseur in September 1999. Lainey left him after several assault incidences. They divorced after he went to jail in October 2000 for the assault on Parish. In February 2000, Lavergne pleaded guilty to the the battery charge of Parish and served 8 years, getting out in April of 2008. What a lot of people don't know about Lavergne is that he has has friends and relatives in Texas, and in particular, Highland, Texas which is in Harris County. Harris County and Montgomery County are right next to each other and according to a reader when I was writing up the Missing Texas Forty article, Harris and Montgomery Counties overlap. I have just found out that Lainey Vasseur, Lavergne's ex wife is now Lainey Martinez and she lives in Highland, Texas. Lavergne reported his Chevrolet Z71 pickup truck stolen from Montgomery County, Texas. He was also in the Spring, Texas (Harris/Montgomery County) to rent a car, after he abandoned his truck in Coldspring, Texas in San Jacinto County. Spring is an hour away from Coldspring. This comment was one by me, not by author & educator Gary Lavergne. www.missingpersonsofamerica.com/2012/07/will-more-victims-be-found-connected-to.htmlAnonymousJuly 23, 2012 12:17 PM Author: Gary M. Lavergne. was born in the small Southwestern Louisiana Cajun community of Church Point. He was the son of a policeman and a cafeteria worker. In all of his messages and presentations, Gary draws from his unique, rich Cajun background. Deja vu or coincidence? www.garylavergne.com/badseed.htmThe Bad Boy From Rosebud, a serial killer named Kenneth Allen McDuff, was executed on November 17, 1998. McDuff’s notoriety results not just from the frightening nature of his crimes, but also from the journey that returned him to death row AFTER having been paroled from the first death sentence he received for murders he committed in 1966. McDuff is the only convicted killer in American history to have been assigned two different death row numbers and sentenced to two different forms of execution by three different juries. McDuff’s parole in 1989 made it possible for him to murder again, which in turn resulted in one of the largest prison construction projects in the history of the free world. The Bad Boy from Rosebud is now available. Call (800) 826-8911 or go to you favorite bookstore and ask for ISBN: 1-57441-072-5. The Bad Boy From Rosebud delves into: McDuff's childhood; The unbelievable sub-culture of drugs, prostitution and violence in which he flourished; The horrifying crimes he committed; The extraordinary cooperation of at least one dozen law enforcement agencies engaged in a nationwide manhunt to arrest him; His unwitting fashioning of an "impossible" political coalition to restructure the criminal justice system The dramatic search for and recovery of missing victims A minute-by-minute account of his execution on November 17, 1998

Ecxept that BSL HID his bodies - seems like BTL left his to be found. Brandon hid Lisa Pate and when I think about it, he hid her, but he ALSO covered her up, seemed almost ashamed. He knew her though. Mickey, I think she's probably also covered but by dirt, because it was still a shame thing, since we know that he went to church and to cemeteries before he was caught.

Ecxept that BSL HID his bodies - seems like BTL left his to be found. Maybe he just didn't do as good a job at hiding his victims as BSL! But think about this, if indeed some of the Jeff Davis Parish girls are Brandon's, he didn't hide them, at least not the last three. So, was he just changing up his game, or didn't he do those? I can't get a solid hold on his methods.

And also, when DTL was convicted, this is where Brandon was, probably watching the news very closely:

Or BSL learned from prior mistakes and mistakes of serial killers prior.. Imo BS Lavergne was well studied of other serial killers, LE investigative techniques, strategies, & sops, etc. BSL was a thinker, a hunter, an emulator of others prior..

Did you say it was on WS? Yes please watch this: 'White male driving a white truck'? dejavu or coincidence? DNA results throw the BR SK investigation into a tailspin. 'How can so many witnesses who say they saw a white male driving a white truck'? "Could there have be 3 serial killers active in Baton Rouge simutaneously; DTL, Gillis, BSL"? 'Was the BR Serial Killer Task Force so desperate to make an arrest in the Baton Rouge Serial Killer investigation that they attributed all the victims to DTL, while ignoring other possible predators in their midst'? SK Sean Vincent Gillis, was active, yet remained stealth. Why not BS Lavergne, too??

Signature killers change their MO's often experimenting with different ways of dealing with their victims and satisfy their sexual cravings. They often take mementos or souvenirs with them from their victims.
Most serial killers, no matter what their category, still woo their victims into the trap. That's part of the pattern and it's the way the killer isolates his victim in preparation for the assault. The most common anger-retaliation pattern is the prostitute killer who picks up his victim on a street corner, drives to a private place, begins the assault, and escalates the violence until he's completely sated immediate needs for retaliation.
Even if the signature killer drives to the crime scene with his victim, he often approaches the last 200 feet on foot because he drives he own frenzy with each footfalls, physically stalking and hunting his prey and confronting her face-to-face.

Brandon wasn't powerful, and he needed to feel powerful, even more powerful than DTL and any of those other serial killers that his cousin wrote about.

Well - the video is horrifying - those women were just living their lives. We keep talking about BSL searching out prostitutes, but none of these women were prostitutes. So sad.

Wow, that was really interesting, mama. Thanks for posting it so I didn't have to look! Very creepy, the way he talked himself into people's homes even when they were alone.

I'm just trying to get inside Brandon's head, try to figure out how he operates. He doesn't do the same things DTL did. It's troubling and confusing.

perhaps BSL's victims are chosen out of convenience. He needs a victim, he finds one - no thought into who it is which may be what led to his downfall. Mickey was the wrong person to victimize. Or maybe Lafayette was the wrong place to do it. They have cameras - lots of people - the university - lots of talk. If he would have stuck with the small towns, he may have gotten away with it for a long time.

Yep he goofed up all the way around this time, not only did he pick the wrong girl, he got the fight of his life, which probably pissed him off even more, then he was hurt and needed help. What a bummer for BSL lol.

I guess I never thought a serial killer would study to be a better serial killer. Seems to me you would have to be born a serial killer. Strange. Psychopathic Serial killer Gary Hilton began reading encyclopedias at the age of 5 years old. His IQ was within the top 10% of the world. He luved to read, was very calculating, creative, & cagey. He later read SK novels, both fiction & true crime. Worked for a company that distributed these novels to book stores, etc. IMO, this was to mine for MOs, signatures, etc., of SKS prior. Along with other items, I have many of his personal novels(long story). Shot his stepfather at age 14 yrs old. Commited to mental institution. Obtained GED. Went into the Army Special Forces, discharged. Began hunting humans. GMH was an emulator and was active for 4 decades..Wrote the script for a sk movie in 1994 - 'Deadly Run' - hunting humans - based on alaskian SK Robert Hansen..went straight to video in 1995-His defense attorney was the producer; sam rael...

I totally agree Foxfire, why not others, and why not BSL? The only thing, in most of those cases, they found African American/White mixture in the DNA.

And the white guy in the white truck, honestly, DTL was very black, how did all those people see a white man? Or, did they see a white man? BSL was in jail until August 2008.
