Girl, 15, is missing after meeting a man with a fake Facebook profile: mother A Maine teen has gone missing after meeting up with an older man she met through Facebook, her worried parents believe. Nichole Cable, 15, has not been seen since 9 p.m. Sunday when she went to meet someone who had set up a fake profile with the name Bryan Butterfield on the site. Her phone is switched off and she has not been on social media. Cable's mother, Kristine Willey, has set up a Facebook group where she's begging for her daughter’s safe return. "Please if you have my CoCo, drop her off at a gas station or a park so she can call for help or for me to come get her. I don't care who you are, I just want her home," she wrote. Willey also revealed that the fake Butterfield account had since been deleted, with other young female members in the 3,700 strong group saying the person behind it had also tried to contact them. www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/girl-15-missing-facebook-meeting-article-1.1345894?localLinksEnabled=falseAttachments:

Mother makes emotional plea for return of missing Glenburn teenbangordailynews.com/2013/05/15/news/bangor/mother-makes-emotional-plea-for-return-of-missing-glenburn-teen/“I would like to say, ‘Nichole, we love you and if you’re scared because you ran away — you’re not in trouble. It’s OK,’” Cable’s mother, Kristine Wiley, said at a Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office press conference with her husband, Jason Wiley, standing beside her. “If somebody has her — I don’t care [what happened] — take her to a gas station or a park. I don’t know what else to say. I’m waiting for you to call me and I love you.” Deputy Chief Troy Morton leaned over and motioned for her to display the pictures she had of her daughter, one of which showed the teenage girl in a cheering uniform, and two others that were school portraits. “This is my daughter,” Wiley said, showing the pictures to members of the media. “If you see her, please let the authorities know. Help me bring her home.” The parents requested they not be questioned by the media, Morton said. There are 45 law enforcement personnel — federal, state, county and municipal — working the missing person case, Morton said. “We want the public to know we are using every available resource to locate Nichole,” Morton said, later noting that Maine wardens were conducting a ground search for the Old Town High School student. Cpl. John McDonald of the Maine Warden Service said a search was taking place in Glenburn. The exact location was not disclosed. The FBI, the National Center for Missing Children, the Maine State Police computer crimes unit, Bangor Police Department and others are assisting in the case, Morton said.

UPDATE:Crews Searching Camp Roads for Clues in Nichole Cable Case Nichole Cable, 15, hasn't been heard from since Sunday night. At a press conference on Thursday, Sheriff Glenn Ross with the Penobscot County Sheriff's Department said it is still a missing person case. Deputies said they received more than 60 calls with tips in the case on Wednesday night. Crews are using K9 units and an airplane to search camp roads near where Nichole lives in Glenburn. Police say they are searching for clues like clothing and footprints, hoping something will lead them to Nichole. The Old Town High School student reportedly went to the driveway of her mother's house to talk with someone and never came back. Her mother has told TV 5 Nichole didn't know the person except for on Facebook. Deputies are asking anyone who thinks they saw something suspicious on Route 221 in Glenburn between 8pm Sunday and 2am Monday to call them at 947-4585. www.wabi.tv/news/40187/update-crews-searching-camp-roads-for-clues-in-nichole-cable-case Attachments:

Body believed to be Glenburn teen Nichole Cable found; police working near Stillwater RiverOLD TOWN, Maine — Authorities were in the woods near the Stillwater River in Old Town Tuesday morning at the site where the body of Nichole Cable is believed to have been found. State Police and other law enforcement were gathered near the intersection of Routes 43 and 16 and were seen putting up yellow crime scene tape at about 9:30 a.m. A state police spokesman confirmed the activity at the scene was related to the discovery of the body Monday night. A black minivan was seen entering the barricaded area and leaving minutes later. Authorities believe but have not confirmed that the body found Monday is that of Cable, who disappeared from her Glenburn home last week. “They’re still processing the scene,” Mark Belserene, a spokesman for the state medical examiner’s office, said Tuesday morning. “The plan is to do the autopsy today, if possible.” In a news release issued late Monday, Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety, said a body was found by the Maine Warden Service and that the state medical examiner’s office would make a positive identification on Tuesday. The remains were found about 9:30 p.m. and the site was secured for the night. The recovery of the remains began at daylight Tuesday morning. The parents of the girl were told of the development by members of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department and Maine State Police. Cable was a student at Old Town High School, and grief counselling has been set up for her fellow students, a school secretary said Tuesday morning. Additional information will be released at a news conference at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sheriff’s Department in Bangor, according to McCausland. The press conference was originally scheduled for 10 a.m. Police said earlier Monday they were following leads developed from Sunday’s massive search for the 15-year-old girl, who was last seen on Mother’s Day. More than 500 people took part in Sunday’s search in Glenburn, Hudson and West Old Town, including law enforcement officials and volunteers. In addition to the ground searches coordinated by the Maine Warden Service, police conducted two informational roadblocks between 8 p.m. Sunday and 1 a.m. Monday in the areas of Route 221 in Hudson and Route 43 in West Old Town, Chief Deputy Troy Morton of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said in an update Monday evening. More than 100 motorists passed through the road checks, providing more than 25 new pieces of information for investigators to pursue, he said. Morton said that on Monday a Maine Forest Service helicopter was brought in to search the Hudson and Old Town areas and that K-9 teams from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Maine Warden Service conducted several more ground searches. “We’re doing follow-up investigations,” Morton said Monday shortly after leaving the command center set up at the historic Penobscot County courthouse. “Different officers, with different specialities, are being sent out to do different [assignments].” Nichole Cable was last seen at her home on Spruce Lane on the evening of May 12, and her parents think she was taken by someone using a false Facebook profile, according to the family’s Facebook page, Bring Nichole Cable Home. Morton, who estimates there are between 40 and 70 officers working on the investigation, said several Facebook rumors have surfaced about the case but said he didn’t want to comment on any of them. He said officers working on the case are focusing on legitimate leads. “Our people are working really hard,” Morton said. There are seven residences on Spruce Lane in Glenburn, which is a private road. A poster bearing a picture of Nichole’s face and the word “Missing” marks the roadway’s entrance. It is hung on plywood painted white. Words of love and calls to come home safe, left in black magic marker by friends, loved ones and strangers, stand out against the light paint. The man who lives next door to Cable and her parents, Jason and Kristine Wiley, said Monday he has three sons living at his house and is concerned for their safety. “I won’t let them play outside,” he said, pointing to his yard, which abuts the Wileys’ property. The public is asked to call the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department at 947-4585 if they have any information about the case. bangordailynews.com/2013/05/21/news/bangor/nichole-cable-body-found-old-town-maine/

A 20-year-old Orono man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of Nichole Cable, a 15-year-old girl from Glenburn whose body police believe was discovered Monday night in a wooded area of Old Town, according to police. Kyle Dube is in custody at the Penobscot County Jail where he had begun serving a 90-day sentence on May 17 for an unrelated criminal speeding conviction, according to court records. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday morning. Stephen Smith, a Bangor attorney, confirmed Tuesday morning that he has been retained to represent the man. The Maine State Police and Orono police were at the Dube’s residence at 5 Maplewood Ave. on Wednesday, according to neighbors James and Deborah Bowie. The Maine State Police Mobile Crime Unit was there Sunday and Monday, they said. Stephen McCausland said Sunday night that he didn’t have any information on why the crime lab was there but the neighbors said the mother of that household told them that Nichole had been there about week earlier to visit and that she reported that to police. Neighbors said Kyle reportedly had been using his father’s black Ford Ranger for work purposes. The truck has been impounded, State Police confirmed Tuesday. Dube turned himself into police on Friday and is at Penobscot County Jail. He’s being held on two counts of speeding more than 30 mph over the limit, according to Penobscot County jail officials. Dube twice posted the flyer about Nichole Cable being missing on his Facebook page last week. On Monday (the day after Nichole went missing) he posted the following: “OK so I don’t with the droma. Let’s get this straight. I KYLE DUBE is and always will be with [my girlfriend]. We have had are up and downs but we have worked them out so stop talking to me if you are trying to flirt and guys you better stop hitting on [her] I get crazy when I’m pissed off and I’m about there.” bangordailynews.com/2013/05/21/news/bangor/orono-man-facing-murder-charge-in-connection-with-death-of-missing-glenburn-teen/Attachments:
