A Georgia mom heard knocks on her front door on Firday assuming it was a solicitor She told her 9-year-old twins not to answer the door and, when the visitor began repeatedly ringing the doorbell, she called her husband at his job and he told her to gather the children and hide.
The father dialled 911 and the mother and children attempted to hide inside a crawlspace, but by that time the intruder jimmied the front door with a crowbar and entered the home and went to the couples home office where he opened the closet door and found himself staring down the barrel of a 38 revolver.
Mom fired six bullets into the neck and face of Paul Ali Slater, who was an ex-convict with arrests dating back to 2008, and had just been released from jail in August. Mom then tells the crying man to stay down or she would shoot again.
The mom and children ran to a neighbor's home and the ex-con made it outside and into his vehicle. The Authorities found him a short time later bleeding profusely in a neighbor's driveway, pleading that he was dying and needed help. He was transported to a Medical Center and was expected to survive.
What an idiot. This should be a lesson to anyone thinking that it's alright to just break and enter someone's home. This indeed seems the proper use of a gun to protect the lives of the innocent adults and children in this country.
I just wonder what would have happened if the intruder would have also had a gun. All I can say is that she at least would have had the advantage of getting off the first shot. There are so many senarios that might not have turned out this well.
