A missing 15-year-old Greene County girl has been identified as the woman found in Truman Lake on Sunday. DNA testing confirmed the body belonged to Khighla L. Parks of Willard, according to a release from the Benton County Sheriff’s Department. The death is being investigated as a homicide. Parks had been missing since Sept. 20 when she was last seen at 5 p.m. walking near the vicinity of her home, near the intersection of Highway AB and Highway EE in northwest Greene County. She had been described as a runaway.Benton County officials contacted Greene County officials to help identify a weighted-down, female body earlier in the week. DNA tests through the Missouri Highway Patrol Crime Lab confirmed the body belonged to Parks, the release said. Earlier, police said they were evaluating DNA from several missing persons. Authorities declined to give details of how she was killed. Benton County Sheriff Rick Fajen said boaters found the body Sunday in the Warsaw area of Truman Lake after it floated to the surface. A spokesman for Parks’ grandmother Bonnie Adams politely said she did not want to comment Friday night. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Department at 417-868-4040 or the Missouri Highway Patrol at 816-622-0800 or 417-895-6868. www.news-leader.com/article/20121006/NEWS01/310060029/khighla-parks-willard-teen-found-truman-lakeAttachments:
