A missing Bingham-area woman turned up safe Friday and her estranged husband was arrested for kidnapping one day after the woman´s disappearance triggered a search through remote woodlands by dozens of law enforcement officers.
Authorities looking for Denise Miller, whose age was unavailable, reported Friday night that she had come in to a police command post after being driven there by a family member.
Police contacted her 29-year-old husband, Derek Miller, at an area residence, where he surrendered without incident, according to state police spokesman Stephen McCausland.
McCausland said Denise Miller was take to a hospital in Skowhegan for observation while her husband was being brought to the Somerset County Jail.
In addition to kidnapping, Derek Miller also faces charges of terrorizing with a firearm and violation of probation, according to McCausland.
Denise Miller´s had been found in the parking lot of the Bingham Health Center on U.S. Route 201, where she works, at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday. Her purse was inside the vehicle and the car´s engine was running.
McCausland said a vehicle that Derek Miller was believed to have been driving was located late Thursday afternoon on Rowe Pond Road in Pleasant Ridge Plantation.
Police believe the man and woman spent Thursday night in the woods and on Friday afternoon arrived at the home of a friend in the area. McCausland said Derek Miller telephoned family members who then came to the home.

Skeletal remains found in a wooded area near U.S. Route 1 were identified Tuesday as those of a middle-age man who was reported missing 10 years ago, authorities said.
The man´s name was being withheld until family members could be notified. Stephen McCausland of the state Public Safety Department said the man was from out of state.
The remains were transported to the state medical examiner´s office in Augusta.
"At this point in the investigation there is nothing to indicate foul play," McCausland said.
The remains were found Monday by a landowner as he was clearing some trees from a wooded lot on the Sherman Point Road.

Police Chief Doug Bracy said there is no new information on the investigation into the death of the woman whose body was found stuffed in a trash can and left by the side of the road in a wooded area of a residential street. "There is so much information to sift through," said Bracy. "It can be a very long process to follow all the leads and try to make connections."
The body of Wendy Morello, 40, of 1 Kilby St., Worcester, Mass., is believed to have been missing from Worcester since sometime between Sept. 1 and Sept. 5.
A man walking on Riverwood Drive noticed the trash can on the side of the road. When he investigated, he saw what looked like a human body inside and called police.
Police released identifying information about the body to the media and to law enforcement agencies nationwide. The most significant clues police had were a rose tattoo on the woman’s right ankle and an upper denture with the name "Morello" imprinted on it.
Worcester police contacted Maine State Police soon after with a possible identification for the body that, through further tests, was determined to be correct.
A representative of Worcester police indicated the department was not ready to release any information either. Police would not comment on a possible link between Morello and three other women believed to have been murdered, possibly the victims of a serial killer.
In a report by The Associated Press, Worcester Acting Police Chief Paul F. Campbell noted the physical similarities between Morello and the three victims found in the past year.
Morello is described as petite and had brown hair and brown eyes.

The skeletal remains of a Norwich man missing for ten years have been found in Maine.
The Norwich Bulletin reports that the remains of Roger Meiklem were found Monday in a wooded area in Lincolnville, Maine. Police said they do not suspect foul play, but are examining the remains before making a final decision.
David Meiklem, the man's brother, said his brother's body was found not far from where his locked car was found ten years ago with the keys still inside.
He disappeared from his Norwich home in September 1994. Investigations by Norwich and Maine police turned up few clues.

[glow=red,2,300]Body Found In Woods ID'd As That Of Missing Woman[/glow] CANAAN, Maine -- Authorities said a body found nearly two weeks ago in woods in the western Maine town of Canaan has been positively identified as that of Cheryl Murdoch. Investigators are not revealing the cause of death, other than to say it was a homicide. State police said previously they believe that the body found Aug. 11 was that of the 37-year-old Waterville woman. Meanwhile, detectives are back in Canaan on Tuesday to continue the investigation into the Murdoch slaying and the disappearance of another woman, Shirley Moon Atwood, 35. Murdoch had been staying with Atwood's estranged husband, Shannon Atwood, who is being held in the Somerset County jail on charges of terrorizing and reckless conduct. Atwood was arrested Aug. 13 after he allegedly used a bow and arrow to threaten detectives who came to search his house. www.wmtw.com/news/9716130/detail.html
