Newington police said they found a body of a deceased man lying in the brush on property adjacent to the Stop & Shop Plaza at 44 Fenn Road Friday morning at 8:15 a.m.
Police have yet to deign the man’s identity, Newington police Lt. Nicholas Miano said Friday.
The Connecticut State Police K-9 Team and the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad assisted in the investigation, he said.
On Wednesday, The Herald ran a photo and description of Andrzej Gawecki, 52, of New Britain, who had been missing since last Wednesday. His Volkswagen Jetta was recovered Tuesday in Newington.
However, it remained unclear Friday if authorities had found Gawecki.
New Britain police said he was upset over personal matters prior to going missing, but no evidence has been found to indicate criminal activity.

Authorities have identified a body that was found floating in the Thames River in Norwich.
Fingerprints were used to identify 34-year-old Darren Johnson, whose body was found floating on the east side of the river yesterday by a person walking on nearby train tracks.
An autopsy by the chief medical examiner's office was inconclusive. More tests are being done.
Johnson's mother, Rose Gaudreau, reported him missing to Norwich police more than a month ago.
Gaudreau told the Norwich Bulletin that she had been worried that her son was without the medication he took to control seizures. She said his father died from a similar condition.
