The search for a missing 22-year-old Fond du Lac woman has intensified.
Fond du Lac police were canvassing Angelique M. Beecher’s apartment complex Thursday afternoon hoping to turn up some clues where the woman — who’s been missing since Monday — might be, said Major Kevin Lemke of the Fond du Lac Police Department.
Police say the Beecher’s whereabouts are of particular concern since the 22-year-old has the mental capacity of a third grader, Lemke said. Relatives are unsure if she has the ability to use a phone to call and report where she is or contact someone if she’s in trouble.
Police were going door-to-door at Courtyard Apartments, 96 N. Berger Parkway, trying to gather more information about Beecher’s location, Lemke said. They were out missing person’s posters with a picture of Beecher — who is described as being 5’ 4”, 110 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes — on it.
The canvassing effort will also include searching the apartment’s grounds, said Capt. Jon Gutzmann of the Fond du Lac Police Department.
“We will be looking around the yard, in bushes,” said Capt. Jon Gutzmann. “Basically, we are going to eliminate any possibility that she is there.”
A search within Beecher’s apartment Wednesday turned up nothing suspicious, Lemke said.
“Nothing at the apartment indicates foul play — there’s no evidence of any sort of struggle,” he said.
All of her clothing remained at the complex and her purse was also there, Lemke said.
Fond du Lac police are concentrating all their efforts Thursday on finding Beecher.
“Right now, we are basically dropping everything to focus on this,” Lemke said.
Police believe the last time Beecher was in apartment was Monday morning.
A note posted on her door Monday morning by a Courtyard Apartments landlord was within Beecher’s apartment Wednesday when she was reported missing.
Another note, left on her door Monday afternoon, was still on the door Wednesday.
Family has told police the woman has the capability to live on her own, but she does not carry a cell phone or any type of credit cards and cannot drive a car, he said. She does not have a job, he said.
The last time the woman was actually seen was Wednesday, Aug. 8, Lemke said.
Police learned Wednesday that Beecher — who frequents downtown bars — had not been seen out recently, Lemke said.
All of the Fond du Lac Police Department detectives are working Thursday to gather information on Beecher, which includes interviewing Beecher’s friends and working in conjunction with Waupun Police Department to learn more about the missing woman who is a former Waupun resident.
Anyone with information on Beecher’s whereabouts can contact the Fond du Lac Police Department at 906-5555.
