Between the Forrest Gump'ish statement of Burno's defense lawyer, & his clearly delusional offspring, I'm sure we'll have an easy conviction here.. I don't know what his daughter was thinking when she said basically that her father was an "experienced abductor" in the news article below, but hey! We'll take all the help we can get to put him in jail where he belongs! So like, if he was just looking for directions, why did he drive by her several times first, & then try to force her into a guardrail? Forgot his GPS (Girl Positioning Sensor) at home? Yes I know, we are mean & judgemental people to think that a man also accused of stabbing an old disabled man with his own cane, could be responsible for other crimes as well. Give me a break... ~Dan (from Justice 4 Molly Myspace page)
Suspect held on $500,000 bail in attempted abduction case
PALMER— The 54-year-old man charged in connection with an attempted abduction in Brimfield last month pleaded not guilty today in Palmer District Court.
Robert R. Burno Jr. was ordered held on $500,000 bail by Judge Phillip Beattie. His case was continued to Sept. 6.
Mr. Burno is charged with annoying and accosting a person and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Assistant District Attorney Michael Walsh requested that Mr. Burno be held on $250,000 bail. The prosecutor said Mr. Burno had been "very elusive" since a warrant was issued for his arrest on July 30. The prosecutor said it was only with the help of the public that police were able to apprehend him.
Mr. Burno was arrested by Dudley Police Tuesday night after they received a tip that he was living in the town.
His attorney, Anthony Canata asked the judge to release Mr. Burno on personal recognizance.
Mr. Canata said that while "on the surface this could look like a very scary situation," Mr. Burno may have simply been trying to ask for directions when he approached a young woman on July 21 on Little Alum Road.
Two of Mr. Burno's daughters attended the arraignment today. The daughters said they believe their father was just going to ask directions when he approached the young woman.
Jennifer Burno said "he would never ever, ever, hurt anybody."
He is not from the Brimfield area, she said. "He was looking for a part for his car … if he wanted to abduct her, he would have abducted her," she said.
Another daughter, Cristy Ross, also attended the hearing.
The daughters said allegations that their father is linked to the Molly Bish abduction are ridiculous. Jennifer Burnos admits her father resembles the sketch but there are several others who resemble the sketch also.
Mr. Burno is scheduled to be arraigned later today in Hampden District Court in Springfield on an outstanding arrest warrant. Police say he failed to appear for a jury trial in March in a case in which he was charged with assaulting a disabled man in West Springfield late last year.
