22-year-old Stepha Henry, is a petite dynamo whose vibrant presence has been missing from her family's life since May 29th, 2007. That Memorial Day weekend, Stepha flew her and her sister, Shola, from New York to visit their aunt in Miami Gardens for Shola's 16th birthday.
The two went to a reggae concert on Sunday, then late Monday night, Stepha told her aunt she was going to Club Peppers, a nightclub in Fort Lauderdale. Her family watched her get into a dark-colored 4-door Acura Integra with a man, and that's the last they saw of her.
Police say video taken by a promotional company at Club Peppers that night shows Stepha there, and detectives say people saw her at the club, and saw her leave. Police also questioned the man she rode with to the club. He says they separated once they got there. The only other clue for police is that Stepha checked her cell phone voice mail at 4:13 a.m. But Stepha never made it back to her aunt's house.
The big question for police now: Where is that Acura Integra? The man who drove it that night says he borrowed it from a friend of a friend. Police think if they can find the car, maybe they'll get some answers. Is it abandoned somewhere? Or innocently being driven by its owner? Any answer would help.
Stepha was a force to be reckoned with at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. She is an honors graduate with a major in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology, and in 2006, she was one of only two students chosen to be presidential intern to college president Jeremy Travis.
This summer she was working at the college as an assistant in the Enrollment Management Office, while she studied for the LSAT exam to prepare for law school. She's into fashion and wanted to do some designing on the side. Her mom, Sylvia, says Stepha is not a girl who would disappear on her own. Sylvia even talked to her daughter that night as she got ready to go to the club. Stepha told her she wouldn't be out too late, because she had to catch her flight the next day, Tuesday, at 1:30 p.m. She had to work on Wednesday.
Stepha Henry is petite, 5'2", 110 lbs, with long reddish-bronze hair. She was wearing a black dress with a white tank top underneath, brown heels and a brown clutch purse.
Dozens of volunteers have joined in the search for Stepha, including the Texas Equusearch Mounted Search and Recovery Team, as well as dozens of volunteers who don't even know the Henry family -- they just want to help find Stepha.
