Searchers continued to look for a Ventura woman on Thursday more than four days after she disappeared somewhere along Highway 99 north of Bakersfield.
Searchers are not only looking for Lisa Harvey from the ground but also from the air, her niece Amanda Thorn said Thursday from Ventura.
Harvey was last heard from shortly after midnight on Sunday after a voicemail was left during a call made from Harvey's cellphone. The message contained no speech, only muffled sounds in what appears to have been an accidental call, her niece said.
While the initial search focused on Kern County, Thorn said the search was extended into Tulare County after searchers failed to find any sign of Harvey.
By Thursday, the search also extended into Inyo County, east of Lake Isabella, Thorn said.
She said searchers found a pilot who was going to look for Harvey and her vehicle from the air on Thursday. They were also looking into using drones, she said.
Harvey left Ventura on Saturday with plans to drive the 160 miles to Lake Isabella to visit a cousin, Thorn said. But the 51-year-old woman never arrived, Thorn said.
Thorn said her aunt took Highway 126 out of Ventura, stopping in Fillmore to visit a friend. Harvey then got back on Highway 126 and then Interstate 5 before taking Highway 99 to Bakersfield, where she planned to take Highway 178 to Lake Isabella.
Harvey called a friend late Saturday from a service station on Highway 99 in Tulare County after she realized she'd missed the Highway 178 turnoff in Bakersfield, Thorn said.
Harvey told the friend "she was going back," she said. The friend asked if that meant Harvey was returning to Ventura and Harvey said she was going south to find the exit to Highway 178.
That was the last time anyone is known to have spoken to her aunt, Thorn said.
Harvey's cousin alerted authorities around 9 p.m. Sunday that Harvey was missing, Thorn said.
Harvey is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, with red hair and hazel eyes, and weighing 230 to 270 pounds, according to a flier distributed by the Kern County Sheriff's Office. She was driving a white 2000 Toyota Solara with California license plate 4KKU552.
Anyone with information on Harvey or who may have seen her car is asked to call the Kern County Sheriff's Office at 661-861-3110 or the Tulare County Sheriff's Office at 559-733-6211.
