FBI joins search for missing 8-year-old girl after woman found dead in Marlboro County home

MARLBORO COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Marlboro County law enforcement are asking for the public’s help in locating an 8-year-old girl who was discovered missing during the course of a death investigation.

According to information from Marlboro County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jamie Seales, the MCSO and the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division are investigating the disappearance of Iyana Lowery from her home on Craig Circle in Bennettsville.

The death investigation was taking place at the same Bennettsville residence, according to Seales.

Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown said the body of a woman, Ella Lowery, was found at the Craig Circle home at 8:30 a.m. Friday. Marlboro County Sheriff Charles Lemon confirmed she was the mother of the missing girl.

Both the MCSO and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are trying to gather all facts and information. If the circumstances arise that meet the AMBER Alert requirements, one will be issued, Seales said.

Lowery is described as 4 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 100 pounds.

MCSO and SLED worked through the night gathering leads and evidence in multiple counties. Saturday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation joined the search.

"We are exhausting all resources to find Iyana,” Lemon said. “If anyone knows her whereabouts or has information about her disappearance or the death investigation we are conducting at her residence, please call 911 or [phone]. Finding Iyana is of highest priority to all the agencies involved. We need the community to stand beside us and remain vigilant in helping and sharing information. This is not a time as a community to remain silent if you have information. Your piece of information may be critical in saving the life of Iyana."

This hesitation to issue an Amber Alert is really annoying. They need to rethink the status of issuing an alert because this little girl needs to be upfront and in peoples faces.

Jejauncey Fernando Harrington - Charged with murder

BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WCSC) -
A Bennettsville man has been arrested and charged in connection with the May 5 death of Ella Lowery and the disappearance of her eight-year-old daughter, the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office announced today.

Authorities said Ella Lowery was found dead in the Bennettsville home she shared with her daughter May 5. The girl has not been seen since despite a massive search by state police and the FBI.

Jejauncey Fernando Harrington, 32, was charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime in connection with the May 5th stabbing death of Ella Lowery of Bennettsville. Harrington has also been charged with Kidnapping and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime in connection with the disappearance of Lowery's daughter, Iyana.

"This is a major break in this case, but there is still much work to do as the investigation is ongoing," according to Marboro County Sheriff Charles Lemon. "We are keeping out focus on finding Iyana Lowery and bringing her home to her family. That's a continuing priority for everyone that's been a part of this investigation."

Sheriff Lemon said that that $10,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of Iyana Lowery is still available. Anyone with information on her whereabouts should call the Marboro County Sheriff's Office at [phone] or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.

Body found pending identification - Please don't let t his be Iyana

BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WCSC) -
A body was found Sunday morning after authorities received information that led investigators to a remote area near McColl, the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office announced today.

"The body was recovered in an area off New Bridge Road," according to Marlboro county Sheriff Charles Lemon.

Sheriff Lemon said the autopsy will be conducted Monday at the Medical University of South Carolina.

The location is near where Jackie Hulon was was found stabbed to death in 2005. Jejuancey Harrington was charged in Hulon’s killing, but was acquitted.

McColl man found not guilty of murder in woman's death

Bennettsville-AP) February 14, 2007 - A Marlboro County jury has found a McColl man not guilty in the stabbing death of a woman nearly two years ago.

Juancey Harrington was tried for murder last week. Prosecutors said Harrington stabbed 37-year-old Jackie Hulon more than a dozen times and dragged her body into some woods.

Prosecutors presented DNA evidence and two written confessions. Prosecutor Elizabeth Munnerlyn says the state's expert couldn't narrow down the DNA to just Harrington.

Defense attorney Mahlon Padgett said physical evidence, like Harrington's shoes, didn't match the prosecutor's story. Padgett pointed out there was no blood on Harrington's shoes, even though he supposedly dragged a bleeding woman.

Deputies are deciding whether to reopen the investigation.

A neighbor told WMBF News reporter Erin Edwards she tipped off police after she saw a suspicious car on her security camera on May 5th. The neighbor said her camera caught a man sitting in his car across from their house Friday night. She said he drove away with no lights on after sitting there for three hours. The neighbor called police Saturday night, and police reviewed the footage.

McColl, S.C. (WPDE) — The body of Iyana Lowery, the 8-year-old girl who was first reported missing on May 5 after her mother was found dead at their Bennettsville home, has been found.

The body was found Sunday morning in a creek off Gum Swamp Road near New Bridge Road in McColl and the corner's office confirmed that it was hers on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office.

The location where Iyana Lowery's body was found is near where Jackie Hulon was found stabbed to death in 2005. Jejuancey Harrington was charged in Hulon's killing, but was acquitted in 2007, according to a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) background check and the Marlboro County public index.

What a monster, he's where he should be, behind bars never to see the light of day. How he could look a child in the face who's mother he killed then turn around and kill that child is some kinda special sick.
