Lane County Sheriff’s deputies found the body of missing Phoenix Ore. resident James Lutter this morning. Lutter's body was off of a remote road and pinned under his motorcycle. According to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s office, Lane County Sheriff’s deputies searched down a forest service road after receiving a tip from a civilian. Lutter's body was found about 15 feet off of the road and down a 12-foot embankment, according to the press release. According to Jenny Hall, Jackson County Sheriff’s office spokesperson, authorities found Lutter's body near Cottage Grove. Lutter had a personal location device, but it had not been activated. The Lane County Sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate, though at this point the incident “appears to be a single vehicle crash,” Hall said. Lutter left the Portland area Oct. 15, and was last seen in Cottage Grove later that evening. Lutter, 60, was heading towards Medford on back roads on his motorcycle. Around noon on Oct. 16, his cell phone signal was picked up by a tower in southwest Eugene. The search continued for Lutter early this morning. Douglas, Lane and Jackson Counties were all involved. Lutter’s sister, Marilyn Lutter, assisted authorizes with the investigation. Hall said Marilyn Lutter had declined to speak with the media. www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2013/10/body_of_missing_jackson_county.html
