OMG I hope this is not Alyssiah, and the line that says the police have released the identity of the body must be wrong:State and Trumbull police blocked off Quarry Road along the Bridgeport/Trumbull line after finding a woman's body in a wooded area there. Sources said it may be the body of the missing Eastern Connecticut State University student Alyssiah Marie Wiley. Police have released the idenity of the body. On Thursday, the state police's dive team searched Bunnell Pond near Beardsley Park as part of its search across the state. The State Police Major Crime Squad and Missing Persons Unit is handling the search for Wiley, who was reported missing on April 24. Part of the investigation has been focused on large bodies of water, such as Bunnell's Pond, as well as on parks and wooded areas, Vance said. The dive team employed a side-scan sonar device, which allowed members to search the pond without going into its murky waters. The search ended before 1 p.m. with the team not finding anything, Vance said On April 24, the Connecticut State Police were contacted by Eastern Connecticut State University Police reporting Wiley missing. University police were advised that this student's whereabouts were unknown. University police had initiated a case after receiving this report and learning that the student could not be located by friends or family. www.ctpost.com/local/article/Woman-s-body-found-in-woods-4525745.php

State and Trumbull police blocked off Quarry Road along the Bridgeport/Trumbull line after finding a woman's body in a wooded area there. Several police sources said it may be the body of the missing Eastern Connecticut State University student Alyssiah Marie Wiley. State Police's major crime squad has taken charge of the scene. State Police Lt. J. Paul Vance said there is no positive identification of the body, "and no indication that we'll be able to do that soon.'' Vance would not confirm that the body is female or comment on whether the length of time the student has been missing will delay the ID. The body was discovered in a heavily wooded area off Quarry Road. The woods are located about 100 yards across from the Bow Tie Cinemas. At least a dozen state troopers are on the scene along with police officers from Trumbull and Bridgeport. Police are keeping away a growing crowd of media. You know, it's a damn shame that this so called reporter isn't bright enough to get the facts straight before she decides to print out bullshit. I KNOW some of the facts and the ones she is dishing out aren't the correct ones. Was Alyssiah Wiley murdered? The search for Alyssiah Wiley may be over with the discovery of a body in a wooded area near the Bridgeport line. This May 17, 2013 update is being covered by numerous sources, but it needs to be noted that the identity of the body has not yet been given an official identification. The discovery was made just off Quarry Road ner Trumbull, Conn., which is near where officials had been searching recently for her body. If this body is positively confirmed as hers, and it likely will be, how will the cause of death be revealed? Was this young woman murdered or is her death the result of an accident or even suicide? There aren't enough details available yet so it's impossible to offer any speculation. NBC Connecticut shares some of the past details of this woman's case -- in particular that she's been missing for nearly a month. Her car was found earlier in the search, indicating someone else had driven it after she vanished. The cause of death will be the next piece of this puzzle (after identification), and hopefully officials are able to go to the next chapter with the results. If Alyssiah Wiley was murdered then the person needs to be brought to justice. What needs to be investigated is whether or not this woman led a lifestyle that could put her at risk. Was she ever in rough relationships or involved with criminal types? Hopefully this story doesn't remain a mystery. www.examiner.com/article/was-alyssiah-wiley-murdered

Human remains were found Friday in the woods near the Bridgeport-Trumbull line, near where police have been searching for a missing Eastern Connecticut State University student. The unidentified woman's remains were found by state police working with cadaver-sniffing dogs, according to a news release from state police. Canine teams were continuing to search the area, and detectives responded to the scene off Quarry Road in Trumbull to begin a criminal investigation.Police have been searching for 20-year-old Alyssiah Wiley, who was reported missing from the school on April 24. A dive team searched nearby Bunnell Pond in Bridgeport on Thursday. Wiley was last seen April 20 in Willimantic en route to the university's campus, according to police. Campus and state police have searched the area and other parts of the state. Troopers have used search dogs and aircraft and interviewed numerous people who know Wiley. Police also found a black Nissan Altima last week near the Bridgeport-Fairfield line that they said was connected to the case, but officials wouldn't say how it was related. www.rep-am.com/articles/2013/05/17/ap-state-ct/ct_body_in_woods.txt

State police are investigating whether human remains found in a wooded area near Quarry Road belong to missing Eastern Connecticut State University student Alyssiah Wiley. State police had been searching the area for Wiley because of information they gathered during the investigation of her April 20 disappearance, said State Police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance. A cadaver dog that was searching the area around 10 a.m. Friday found human remains, Vance said. Other cadaver dogs alerted police to other items, which Vance would not identify. "We're initiating a criminal investigation at the scene," Vance said. "We'll be here definitely overnight." The office of the Chief State's Medical Examiner is at the scene, as well as detectives from the state police Western District Major Crime Squad. Vance said the remains were found on private property, which has five owners. Investigators set up a perimeter and pulled out of the area, waiting for written permission from each owner to continue their search, Vance said. Once permission is obtained, investigators plan on doing a search even more detailed than a grid search, according to Vance. He could not provide the exact address of the property. If brush needs to be removed, it will be, he said. Asked whether anyone was being interviewed, Vance said, "not right now." Asked whether there were any surveillance cameras on the nearby buildings, Vance said, "If there are, we'll seize them and we'll get that." Vance would not say whether clothing or any other items had been found near the remains. He could not say the gender of the remains — or how long they may have been there. DNA analysis might be required to identify the remains, a law enforcement source said. Kathleen Ceccarelli was standing next to the car she had parked along Quarry Road — a "Kidnapped" poster featuring Wiley's photo displayed in the back window. Ceccarelli explained that her daughter, Kate Ceccarelli, had once been Wiley's roommate and that she's been helping Wiley's family search for the missing student since she disappeared. She explained why she had crossed out "missing person" on the sign and written "kidnapped." "She (Wiley) did not voluntarily get to this spot," Ceccarelli said. She said she didn't know whether the remains were Wiley's, but she hoped they weren't. "I've got to go on a positive note," she said. "We've had so many miracles." She said so many people came out to help in the search. She spoke about the strength of Wiley's family. "They're very, very strong Christian people. It's amazing. I probably will convert," she said. She said part of the reason why Wiley, a quiet young woman, moved out on Kate Ceccarelli was because Ceccarelli and her friends were partying too much. "She was a bookworm," Ceccarelli said of Wiley. "She was very, very serious. Very modest." The search area is about two miles away from Bridgeport's Beardsley Park. Bridgeport is one of the last places that Wiley, an ECSU sophomore, was known to have been before she disappeared, the source said. She was known to have been there on April 20, the same day she was seen getting into a car on campus. It was out of character for her to disappear, officials have said. Police also have information that Wiley was at the Dairy Queen in Willimantic that day, the source said. The search for Wiley, who is from West Haven, has stretched from Willimantic to the southwestern coast of the state. The search included a pond in Ansonia and other nearby areas in recent days. Friday morning, state police dive team members were searching a body of water in Meriden. www.courant.com/news/connecticut/hc-body-found-0518-20130517,0,7405463.story

State Police Lt Paul Vance said they were searching for the body of the missing college student with cadaver dogs when they found human remains. A state police source told the Post the remains include a woman's leg that was found about 100 feet into a densely wooded area from the end of Quarry Road.Police, who continue to search the woods for additional remains, said the remains appear to have been at the site for some time. Police also said identification of the remains will have to be made through DNA testing. The state police dog -- that has been used in the missing student's investigation --found the initial remains Friday morning. While state police did not identify the remains, several police sources say they strongly believe the remains are that of Wiley. A Bridgeport man surrendered to Connecticut State Police shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday in connection with the death of Eastern Connecticut State University student Alyssiah Marie Wiley. Jermaine Richards, 30, surrendered to police with his lawyer, John R. Gulash, at Troop G in Bridgeport. Richards was being held without bond pending arraignment in state Superior Court on Monday. The arrest warrant has been sealed. "I have maintained regular contact with state police during the investigation and surrendered my client as soon as we were informed there was a warrant for his arrest," Gulash said. State Police have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance and death of missing ECSU student Alyssiah Wiley. Jermaine Richards, 30, was charged with murder Saturday afternoon, hours after police confirmed remains found in a wooded area of Trumbull were those of Wiley. Richards turned himself in to Troop G State Police Barracks in Bridgeport Saturday afternoon, said police. Family and friends of Alyssiah said Richards was her long time boyfriend. Richards bail was set at $2,000,000 and he will appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Monday , said State Police spokesman, Lt. J. Paul Vance. State Police began searching a wooded area off of Quarry Road early Friday morning. Around 10 a.m., a State Police Cadaver Dog alerted on what appeared to be human remains. The Connecticut State Forensic Lab in Meriden confirmed that the remains in fact belonged to Wiley. Wiley, a sophomore at Eastern Connecticut State University, was last seen in Bridgeport. Her long time boyfriend told police that he dropped her off at a Dairy Queen near the campus in Willimantic at 11 p.m. on April 20.That was the last time she was seen alive. Corinna Martin, Alyssiah's mother, said Major Crimes Detectives came to her door to personally tell her. She praised police for their effort and also says her daughter was taken from her by a "selfish and malicious person" and that she loved God and God loves her. "A young woman who lived life, had her goals set, knew where she wanted to go, and knew what she had to do to get there. And she loved it all to the fullest," Martin said. The Office of the Chief State's Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of Wiley's death. The search for the 20-year-old student stretched from Willimantic to Meriden, East Haven, West Haven and Ansonia. www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/Remains-Found-in-Trumbull-Identified-as-Missing-ECSU-Student-207994761.html

Cops: ECSU student was dismemberedBRIDGEPORT -- Alyssiah Marie Wiley was going to end her four-year relationship with Jermaine Richards. According to state police, he had become very controlling, and when she complained to him about it at a house in Norwalk where he was working as a nursing aide, he grabbed her in a headlock and began choking her. On April 19 Wiley, a 20-year-old student at Eastern Connecticut State University, told friends she was finally going to end it when she met with Richards the next day. Shortly after noon on April 20, a friend got a text from Wiley. "I really think it's time for me to be single," she wrote. Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Wiley texted the friend: "I'm on my way back. It's over." Twenty-seven days later, a state trooper and his cadaver dog were searching the heavily wooded area at the end of Quarry Road in Trumbull when they came upon a severed left foot. About 100 feet away, they found an ankle and lower leg bones and then parts of an arm. DNA determined they were Wiley's remains. An initial autopsy determined that the remains had been cut by a human with a sharp tool, according to state police. They were found 1.6 miles from Richards' home at 115 Beardsley Park Terrace. Late Monday morning, the families of Wiley and Richards clashed outside the Golden Hill Street courthouse, following his arraignment on charges of murder and first-degree kidnapping. State and local police closed off the street in front of the courthouse, as judicial marshals struggled to keep the sides separate. "My sister was chopped up, there is nothing funny about that," Wiley's sister screamed as other family and police quickly moved her from the middle of the street and away from the family of Jermaine Richards. There were no arrests. Minutes earlier, Richards, 30, stood, his hands and feet shackled, before Superior Court Judge Earl Richards. The accused's lawyer, John R. Gulash, urged the judge to set a lenient bond, arguing that his client has no prior record and, up to his girlfriend's disappearance, had been gainfully employed. However, at the urging of Supervisory Assistant State's Attorney Joseph Marcello, the judge ordered Richards held in lieu of $1 million bond and then transferred the case to the Main Street courthouse for a June 5 hearing. Richards did not enter a plea Monday, and will later face a hearing on probable cause. Gulash said he had been notified as early as three weeks ago that state police had connected his client to Wiley's disappearance. Read more: www.ctpost.com/local/article/Cops-ECSU-student-was-dismembered-4531133.php#ixzz2TsvTJ6O9Yep Jermaine Richards is a piece of work, good looking man, young, male nurse, LPN, made good money, had everything going for him and as educated as he was in his field, apparently no one ever taught him how to treat women. Oh he had many women, and none have said that he abused them, well not yet at least but I'm waiting, this isn't over yet. And it wasn't just that he killed her, he then needed to chop her up? What kinda guy thinks like that? So Jermaine has the next oh lifetime of days behind bars.
