The search continues for a 39-year-old Lambertville woman missing since Saturday night as divers prepare to enter the partially frozen canal in Lambertville at the Coryell Street overpass at 1:35 p.m. today, Jan. 28. According to Lambertville Police Director Bruce Cocuzza, divers yesterday scoured the canal from Elm Street south to Coryell Street but were unsuccessful in locating any sign of Sarah Majoras, a Lambertville resident and long-time bartender at the New Hope, Pa. club John and Peters. Elm Street is the furthest north she’s thought to have been walking, according to Coccuza. “We don’t even know whether she’s there,” Coccuza said, as members of the State Police lowered sonar equipment past the ice into the water of the canal. The plan for today, Coccuza said, is to search below Bridge Street and come several blocks north to Coryell, through water deep enough and moving quickly enough to carry a body downstream. Majoras was last seen at John and Peters at about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday. Security cameras on the New Hope/Lambertville Bridge captured her crossing into Lambertville after that, according to officials. Her boyfriend said she never reached home and reported her missing, according to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns III. Kearns is expected to brief the press again soon. Officials describe Majoras as 5-feet-4 and weighing 140 pounds. She has blue eyes and blonde hair and was last seen wearing blue jeans, brown leather boots, a white cap and a camouflage jacket. Friends were posting pictures describing the missing woman on telephone poles downtown at 2 p.m. Anyone with information can contact the Lambertville Police Department at 609-397-3132. www.nj.com/hunterdon-county-democrat/index.ssf/2013/01/sonor_brought_to_the_underwate.html

A body found Wednesday in the Delaware and Raritan Canal has officially been identified as that of Sarah Majoras, the 39-year-old New Hope bartender missing since early Saturday. In a statement, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony Kearns said preliminary results did not indicate foul play. "At this time, all indications are that Sarah's death was a tragic accident," he said, adding that all of Majoras' belongings - wallet, cellphone, keys - were found with her body. Kearns said the investigation was ongoing. Majoras' body was discovered around 4:50 p.m. Wednesday near Bridge Street in Lambertville, N.J. A boot belonging to Majoras had been found elsewhere in the canal earlier Wednesday, authorities said. www.philly.com/philly/news/20130131_Body_found_in_canal_formally_IDd_as_Sarah_Majoras.html
