Slain YouTube Weapons Expert Didn't Try to Defend Himself, Brother Says The brother of a popular YouTube firearms and explosives expert, who was murdered at a gun making business, finds it surprising that he did not pull out a weapon to defend himself. Keith Ratliff, 32, was found with a bullet in his head Thursday evening inside FPS Industries, his gun fabrication business near Carnesville, Ga. "For him not to pull out that gun and try to defend himself, he had to feel comfortable around somebody. Ratliff was the manager of FPS Russia, the ninth most popular YouTube channel, which features a man with a thick Russian accent shooting weapons and blowing items up on the screen. The channel has amassed a following among weapons enthusiasts, garnering more than 3 million subscribers, making it slightly more than popular boy band One Direction. abcnews.go.com/US/slain-youtube-weapons-expert-defend-brother/story?id=18170305#.UO3BQqxMd0k

Cops puzzled by YouTube gun-enthusiast's shooting deathAuthorities in Georgia are asking for the public's help in the investigation of the shooting death of Keith Ratliff, a gun-enthusiast and manager of a popular gun channel that is the 10th-most subscribed channel on YouTube with 3.4 million fans. Ratliff, 32, was found Jan. 3 shot once in the head his office in Carnesville, Ga., where he tested and developed firearms, WXIA reported. The New York Times reported that Ratliff's body was surrounded by several guns at the scene, but not the one that killed him. In one video, posted to Ratliff's personal YouTube account, he speaks out strongly against gun control, noting: "I am a gun nut." "Every one of you should be able to own an assault weapon of your choice because that's what the Second Amendment is about," he says in the video clip. "It's about owning weaponry to allow you to defend yourself from all enemies, no matter where they rise from." His death has prompted sharp exchanges on his YouTube page and other websites, with several commenters blaming the government for his death. www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/01/11/keith-ratliff-youtube-shot-georgia-murder-guns-fpsrussia/1826545/

Homicide case sends investigators to KentuckyInvestigators looking into the shooting death of the co-owner of FPS Industries LLC could be closer to making an arrest. According to Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas, investigators have gone out of state to conduct more interviews. "Investigators, along with state and federal agents are in Kentucky conducting interviews," Thomas said late Tuesday. "They are expected back either late Wednesday or early Thursday morning." Keith Ratliff, 32, who is from Kentucky originally, was found shot to death at his business on Hayes Road in Carnesville on Jan. 3. Ratliff lived at his place of business. His body was discovered in an office by friends who notified the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. Thomas said Ratliff was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy by the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta later confirmed he died of a single gunshot wound to the head. GBI Agent Mike Ayers said earlier that while numerous firearms were present at the Ratliff residence, the weapon used to kill him was not found. Thomas said Tuesday, they now have persons of interest in that case. www.independentmail.com/news/2013/jan/16/homicide-case-sends-investigators-to-kentucky/
