As most of you are aware, I took on this forum as a labor of kindness in 2003 and of compassion for my fellow man. I have as best I could by myself to keep the missing up to date, and to also keep those who have cared to come here informed on other topics that I felt needed to be highlighted. We as a society have not met our calling, we are a nation of people who are primarily stuck on our own merry go round of daily life, a flurry of activity, the need to earn more money, the need to get somewhere on time, and get our family where they need to be. All of this flurry of activity, never ceasing has become a problem now. Our children don't know who we are, we have accumulated so many toys and stuff that we must continue working for more, we have lost our compassion for others who have less than we do.
This season that is upon us, should be a wonderful time of the year. Not to get more stuff, rather begin to realize that others are in need of a far greater gift, compassion and strength to get through another day. Instead, while we go about our busy days, running to shop for that latest, newest toy out, instead of going about that with blinders on, look to the left and right of you, and behind you. Look into the alleyways, look into the doorways of places that are no longer in business and see the less fortunate, who have no running water, who are cold and in need of food, or clothing.
Look into faces, I challange you, see if you are able to spot a person in need, a person hurting, a person with a blank look in their eyes. Is this too much to ask? I don't think it is. I think we have become a nation of selfishness, instead of selflessness. We have the power inside each and everyone of us to change the way things have become. Take a good long look at yourselves in the mirror, do you know who you are? Think about what good you can do each day, what small thing that you can do for someone you come across with a blank look, or a look of helplessness. Take the step to make a change in their lives, not just for this season, but for each and every day that you and they have on this earth.
I decided that it's time to make a change in my own life. I have decided that I will write all of my thoughts and feelings down and in doing that, might help someone who comes here to read each day, make some good decisions for their own life. With all of the horrific things that happen to us and to others, and the amount of media coverage, the instant information that comes to us, is causing another stressor, one more thing piled on top of another, and we need to take some time to learn how to handle all that stress and heartache. We can't ignore those, we shouldn't ignore them, but we need to learn what is causing so many people to go off the deep end.
We are our brothers keeper, we have the power to make changes, not only for us but for others, Now, we need the knowledge as to how to overcome some of those stressors, how to teach our children how to get past some of the worst things that a child will come up against in their lives. I will be writing about the stressors that I have had in my 58 years, I think maybe we all need to begin writing down things that have become too much to bare, and begin to come to terms with them, and perhaps in doing so, we can heal and begin again to be the people that we were meant to be.
