Family of missing Spring teen, Alexandria Lowitzer, continues to search, hope SPRING – More than a year after a Spring girl went missing, her family continues to search for her. Alexandria Lowitzer, now 17, disappeared April 26, 2010, after exiting a school bus near her home on Low Ridge Road. She was headed to pick up her paycheck at the Burger Barn near her home. Nothing is known about her disappearance and nothing has turned up in the dozen searches attempted. Despite the time that has passed, Bob Walcutt, executive director of the Laura Recovery Center, said the chances of finding Lowitzer after the time that has elapsed is “as good as the day we started.” Walcutt was joined with several members and five dogs from the Greater Houston Search Dogs organization as they walked a ravine to find clues or a trace of Ali’s scent. The ravine is about a mile from where Ali is known to have disappeared, Walcutt said, and was discovered as a possible search area after a search group found it last week and determined dogs would be needed to search thoroughly. “Dogs are just another tool,” Walcutt said. “They do the best they can and they’re usually pretty good. If there’s anything, they’ll find it, hopefully.” Susan Martinez, with the GHSD, said the ravine goes on for miles and there is no certainty anything could be found there in time, as nothing was found there Saturday morning from a few hours of searching. “This is just a shot in the dark other than it’s a good place to search,” Martinez said about the ravine’s proximity to the last known location of Lowitzer. Martinez said the best thing is for the public to remember back to April 2010 when Ail disappeared and think if anyone they saw or knew returned home dirty or seeming nervous in the event someone harmed her. “If we jog some memories, we can give closure to the family,” she said. “We just have no idea.” John Lowitzer, Ali’s father, said he’s attended about every search and continues to have faith even though every search has come up short of clues or leads. “I really wish we had something to go on, but every time we search, it hasn’t turned up anything,” he said. Four other girls went missing around the same time that Lowitzer was reported missing, Walcutt said, but they all were soon found and identified as runaways. However, nothing indicated that Ali was a runaway. “Ali’s the one we just didn’t have any answers for,” Walcutt said. Although the questions are far from being answered for the Lowitzer family, John Lowitzer said Ali was a fun prankster who liked to play around and he knows she did not run away. “I think she was taken against her will,” he said. “There was nothing going on that would suggest she wanted to leave.” Ali’s parents and older brother try to take her disappearance in stride, John said, adding that with each passing day, such as her birthday in February, it just gets harder. “We just kind of get through it day by day,” he said. “You focus on what’s here to do to find her then focus on her not being here.” A website for Ali was created few months ago, John Lowitzer said. The site – www.alexandrialowitzer.com – tells Ali’s story and offers a $20,000 reward to the public to aid in her recovery. “We love her and we miss her,” John Lowitzer said “We’re looking for her and we’re not going to stop until we find her.” www.yourhoustonnews.com/courier/news/article_dec4204e-8977-538d-89dc-0d1514867817.html

Kingwood parent takes action after 7 teenage girls disappear in 2 monthsKINGWOOD, Texas – The disappearances of seven teenage girls in less than two months have prompted a concerned parent to question the system that labels them "runaways." Ira Kettles-Lemiska started a Facebook page to increase awareness about the girls, who all went missing near her Kingwood home. Only one, Ali Lowitzer, has drawn much media attention. Lowitzer was last seen on April 26 getting off her school bus just feet from her home near Knotty Post Drive and Low Ridge Road in Spring. Lowitzer, along with the other girls, have been labeled "runaways" by law enforcement officials, due to a lack of evidence of any foul play. "The more involved I get, the more I’m hearing, ‘Oh no, they’re a teenager? Most likely, they’re a runaway.’ That’s just so not fair," said Kettles-Lemiska. The Houston Police Department said it receives between 6,000 and 7,000 missing person reports a year. Most of them are runways. HPD detectives said every call gets a missing person report opened, but to see if the teen is likely to be a runaway, they’ll check whether the teen took their cell phone or a change of clothes. Another question is whether that teen has a history of disappearance or criminal activity, and if he or she has used any social networking sites. Law enforcement officials said having seven missing girls from the same area is not unusual. There are thousands of similar cases throughout the Houston area. The reality is, cases involving kidnapping or assault take priority and get more resources. But that is small consolation to parents like Stacy Turner, whose 15-year-old daughter, Cynthia, disappeared from her grandmother’s northwest Houston home on April 12. She admits the teenager likely ran off, but that doesn’t make the ordeal any easier. "Not knowing if she’s OK is the scariest part," she said. "They think that it was the child’s choice. But they’re just kids!" Any parent who is worried about their missing child is urged to contact the Laura Recovery Center for Missing Children. www.khou.com/news/Seven-Missing-Girls-In-Two-Months-Worries-Kingwood-Parent-95238394.html

Going to job after schoolAli vanished with just the clothes she wore to school, her backpack and her cellphone, which has recorded no activity since April 26, 2010. She left her purse, cash and cellphone charger in her bedroom. Lowitzer last talked to her daughter around 2:30 p.m. that day. She called Ali on her cellphone to check on her plans after school. The Spring High School sophomore said she would catch the bus home and walk to her job at a burger joint about a quarter-mile from her home to get her paycheck. Lowitzer did not hear from Ali later that evening. She sent her a couple of text messages but never received a reply. She drove by the restaurant a little after 9 p.m., but it was closed. At 11 p.m., she called police. Sheriff's officials classified Ali's disappearance as a runaway case because there were no signs of foul play. The Lowitzers, however, don't believe Ali left home . The night of the 28th Rodriguez told abc27 he and some friends were at the Gas Station Pub in Hummelstown. He said Stouffer was there and asked if she could go with them to downtown Harrisburg. "She asked is she could get a ride with us downtown and I said, 'yeah sure you can come with us downtown'," Rodriguez said. He said he let a friend drive the group. At one point they were in the Harrisburg Hardware Bar and he saw Stouffer get into a verbal altercation with another woman. "I don't know if she knew her but they were back and forth and said we had to go so we just left," he recalled. Rodriguez said bouncers at the bar asked Stouffer to leave so she and the rest of the group left the bar. Then, according to Rodriguez, his friend drove back to Palmyra early Sunday morning and dropped him off at his house a few blocks away from Stouffer's apartment. That was the last time he said he saw the now missing 21-year-old, still in the car with others. He said he went inside his house and fell asleep.www.abc27.com/story/19309331/man-says-police-searched-his-car-following-kortne-stouffer-disappearance
