Cynthia Joan Gastelle homicide: Remains ID'd as woman missing 32 yearsPolice are trying to solve a 32-year-old homicide case after the skeletal remains of a woman, reported missing in Takoma Park in 1982, were recently identified. Prince William County Police say family members of 18-year-old Cynthia Joan Gastelle was reported her missing on April 3, 1980. Two years later, skeletal remains were found on Bull Run Mountain, off of Mountain Road, in the Haymarket area. Police say DNA gathered from the remains matched another person’s DNA, who was later identified as Gastelle’s relative, collected in an unrelated case, in 2011. As a result, police were able to successfully identify the skeletal remains as those of Gastelle. At the time of her disappearance, Gastelle was described as a white female with a slender build. She was just over 5 feet tall, weighed about 90 pounds, and had medium brown hair and hazel eyes. Police say they are investigating this case as a homicide, and are seeking any information about the case. www.wjla.com/articles/2012/06/cynthia-joan-gastelle-homicide-remains-id-d-as-woman-missing-32-years-76911.html
