The family and friends of missing Sam Houston State University student, Thomas "T.J." Murray Jr., has doubled the reward to $20,000 for any information that can be given about the vanished young man.
Murray, 24, has been missing since Oct. 19, 2011. He was last seen leaving the On the Rocks sports bar located at 592 Sawdust Road in South Montgomery County, shortly after midnight on Oct. 19, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say Murray called his father's cell phone at about 12:30 a.m. to let him know he was going to Rookies Sports Bar & Grill, also on Sawdust Road. He called his father again to let him know he was going to leave his truck in the parking lot of Oak Ridge High School but was separated from his friends. No one has heard from him since.
His cell phone was found in a ditch near On The Rocks sports bar and his pickup truck was found in the bar's parking lot. There are no indications of foul play, deputies said.
"He's a very vivacious young man," Tom Murray Sr. told KHOU 11 News. "Heloves his family, outgoing, very generous, keeps in contact all the time. We miss him and we know somebody knows where he's at, and we're asking the public to please help us find our son."
Murray is described to have blonde hair and blue eyes. He is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt with white lettering and shorts on the night of his disappearance.
There are still many active search parties looking for any signs of Murray. Those who can't join the search parties may purchase a "Bring T.J. Murray home safe!" wristband for $4. The money goes directly toward search efforts and the reward.
Anyone with information should contact Det. Keith Funderburk at (936) 760-5876 or Montgomery County Sheriff's Office at (936) 760-5876 or the dispatcher at (936) 760-5800.
