DeKalb, Ill. - DeKalb police searching for missing NIU student Antinette "Toni" Keller announced on Saturday that they have found human remains.
The remains, which have not been formally identified, were found in Prairie Park. On Oct.14, Keller told classmates she was going to Prairie Park to work on an art project.
Keller's family has been notified. Keller, 18, grew up in Plainfield and was a graduate of Nequa Valley High.
Tonight, police said the area where the body was found was densely forested, which might explain why it took so long to find the remains. Other evidence was found at the scene, but investigators would not specify what it was.
"In any search of a scene, you find pieces of evidence along the way," said DeKalb Police Chief Bill Feithen.
Feithen refused to answer specific questions about whether there was a killer on the loose, but said that students and residents of DeKalb should be careful.
"We're certainly concerned at any time we have a possible victim of violent crime," Feithen said. "We live in a day and age anymore no matter what community you live in -- people have to be cautious."

i wonder if the police were doing their jobs and allowing people to help if she would have been found alive. If not, would the perp , if there is one, would have be caught?
