OCALA - The Marion County Sheriff's Office announced today that there appear to be suspicious circumstances in the disappearance of Christine Wiles, 39, who is listed as missing and endangered out of Nederland, Texas.
Major Chris Blair, bureau chief of the Marion County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit, said, "We believe foul play is involved and we want to find this girl. We believe she's in the area of the Ocala National Forest and we're going to search tomorrow with K-9, air unit -- whatever it takes to find her."
According to officials, the search will begin at 8 a.m. near Forest Road 88, along State Road 40, just past Mill Dam. That is the most central spot to conduct the search and the most accommodating for equipment, they said.
The Sheriff's Office is investigating the case because she was last reported seen in Belleview on April 21 "and due to the fact that DNA evidence [blood] has been discovered which supports the possibility of foul play," according to a department news release.
The blood was found in the trunk of a 1995 Chrysler New Yorker belonging to Wiles, which was discovered July 24 in Marion County and which may have been seen in the Ocala National Forest.
The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Wiles or knowledge about the car to call Crime Stoppers at (352) 368-STOP. A $5,000 reward is being offered.
