Riverside, Ca- The Riverside Police Department is confirming the arrest of Adam James Brown (31) of Riverside by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The Milwaukee Division of the FBI has been conducting an investigation pertaining to the illegal activity of sexual conduct with minors; they allege that Brown traveled from Riverside to Wisconsin to participate in these sexual encounters. Brown's arrest was for violation of Title 18 United States Code (U.S.C.) 2423(b), "travel with intent to engage in sexual act with a juvenile". The FBI Innocent Images Task Force arrested Brown at the Riverside Police Department without incident. The Riverside Police Department has cooperated fully in the criminal investigation. The FBI will release all information pertaining to the criminal investigation as they deem necessary so as not to interfere with the criminal investigation.
Brown resigned from the department after the FBI arrested him. An internal RPD investigation remains in progress. This investigation is a personnel matter and per the Peace Officer's Bill of Rights, the department may not comment on any matters pertaining to the personnel investigation.
Brown had been an employee with the department since January 23, 1998. He was last assigned to the Field Operations Division as a patrol officer. Brown has had previous assignments as a Youth Resource Officer, assigned to the Ramona High School Wellness Center. Prior to becoming a police officer, Brown was a substitute schoolteacher at Wells Intermediate School, for the 1996/97 school year. Both the Riverside Unified and Alvord Unified School Districts have been contacted regarding this arrest.
The Riverside Police Department, Riverside Unified School District and Alvord Unified School District consider the safety of the children in our Riverside community paramount and are aware that a victim or victims may exist that has not yet been identified. Any victim that has not been interviewed by either the FBI or the Riverside Police Department is encouraged to come forward. Sgt.
