Mickey Shunick case goes to grand juryA group of 12 men and women is expected to decide today whether there's enough evidence to indict Brandon Scott Lavergne, 33, on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping in the disappearance of University of Louisiana at Lafayette coed Mickey Shunick. The 12 comprise a grand jury that will review the state's evidence and hear from witnesses today behind closed doors. The grand jury convenes at 9 a.m. at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse. It is expected to consider the Lavergne case at 3 p.m. Lavergne and his attorneys will not be present for the hearing. District Attorney Mike Harson said an invitation was not extended to the defense. www.shreveporttimes.com/article/20120718/NEWS03/120718011/Mickey-Shunick-case-goes-grand-jury?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE

You think he didn't have a gun cuz it was illegal? Lol I don't think he cares about legealities It's been said that he's a hunter, so either a rifle, shotgun or bow he would still have, even if he wasn't allowed. I doubt this dirtbag cares about anything in reguards to authority. Game Wardens check hunters regularly. Even on private property or enroute. You have to show your Drivers & hunting license. BSL's has the RSO status. BSL, may have had them in his home & could have said that they were his dads or brothers.. wink, wink..

There is no way the charge could be dropped to 2nd degree, with the kidnapping. Mickey obviously didn't leave with this haploid cretin voluntarily!

From sources within the family I've heard there is an eyewitness that saw him there dumping the bike early in the morning. He thought nothing of it at the time but when he heard about the bike on the news he came forward.
Obviously LE hasn't confirmed this, but I wanted to throw that out there.

While we're waiting and I'm scarfing some food at my desk before my next meeting - what is this Karma thing? (here - karma everywhere is clear-ish)

While we're waiting and I'm scarfing some food at my desk before my next meeting - what is this Karma thing? (here - karma everywhere is clear-ish) Well people who came over from WS asked if there was a thumbs up button and I had to tell them no, the only thing that I have here in proboard forum is the karma, either give karma if you agree with what someone has posted, or a smite if you don't agree. I had those buttons hidden before, never saw any use for them really, but I went ahead and activated them so they could be used. Half the time I forget they are there. And I really miss that thumbs up button lol.

Jujube, your statement about the morning hours, being too dark to see not only what a person looked like but also what the bike looked like was a really good one!

The only thing I find myself looking for is the "Thanks" button, but since it's not as rigid here, I can actually just say thanks w/o adding letters. I like it here. I appreciate all that must go into it.

I'm glad to be able to do it. It's time consuming and I attempt to keep up with all cases, but it's really a huge task, and I still miss much, especially when I'm devoting my attention to one particular case. Since Mickey's case has been so high profile, people that normally just come here to read without signing in are probably beside themselves because I've closed the option to read without the sign up, or being signed in. Oh well.

Oh well. Given the ridiculous behavior we've seen on WS, I don't blame you one bit. I kinda like it. As one of my confidential pre-meeting disclaimers reads: Please remember that these proceedings are held in the strictest confidence to allow for free and uninhibited discussion.

Indeed, but do you KNOW how much all these people are cream of the crop, to not let ANYTHING slip out? I so much love you all for that, you have no idea, what good people you all are. Thank you Jesus.

So he had to have dumped the bike early that morning, or the next day, after the sun came up.

Thank YOU Mama for a great place!! So if the creature was seen dumping the bike, and was on video abducting MS, I can see why LE feels IT is going down, down, down..

Oh yeah, he's going down, no way in hell he's going to get away from this one. And if the witness hadn't seen the bike dump, and they didn't have him on camera abducting her, those ID's would be plenty to keep him just where he is for a very long time. AND, if even ONE of those ID's belong to a missing or murdered girl, well, enuf said.

And if worse came to worst, I believe some sort of unofficial justice might come into play. Hypothetically.
