From Topix: Does anyone know the cause of death for Leander "Black" Venable? Was it a stabbing or shooting or what? Black Venable was found shot 3 times. He was naked and propped up against his bed in his bedroom. At the time, they were talking to a man named Jimmy Melancon. Jimmy was pimping out his live in girlfriend to Mr. Black after Blacks wife died of cancer years earlier. The police found semen in his pen is at the time of death. Later, the police found Blacks wallet in the bayou in Lewisburg by Alden Thibodeaux's house.

Towards the end of his hospital stay it was strange that Brandon wasn't around and when his father was being released and it was strange that he wasn't around to come pick him up from the hospital. Brandon said he was in New Orleans and had been robbed and stabbed and couldn't pick him up so his brother had to. one of his fingers had nearly been cut off.

joshua lavergne is not adopted, his was born three years after brandon was adopted .he is the real son to dale and cynthia lavergne Yes, thank you, I had meant to correct that and hadn't done so. At first we weren't certain that he wasn't also adopted, then later we learned that he was the real son. Thank you so much for pointing that mistake out to me. Don't hesitate to point out things that need to be corrected.

Brandon Scott Lavergne in his journal: 'I became the darkness'While in prison after a previous conviction, confessed killer Brandon Scott Lavergne wrote about robbing houses when he was just 12, dealing drugs, murder, his self-hatred and a crushing darkness that at times consumed him. The writings include letters to his then-wife and a journal Lavergne kept while in prison between February 2000 and August 2008 on a sexual offense. He pleaded guilty in Evangeline Parish to the April 12, 1999, sexual assault of the 18-year-old cousin of a former girlfriend. The documents were released Monday by the 1th Judicial District Attorney's Office. They were collected as part of the investigation into the May 19 disappearance and murder of Mickey Shunick. Lavergne confessed Aug. 17 to kidnapping Shunick as she rode her bicycle on St. Landry Street. He also confessed to the June 1999 murder of Lisa Pate and is serving a life sentence. In a letter to his now ex-wife — they were married less than a year at the time of his conviction for sexual assault — Lavergne recalled watching his mother being beaten and himself being beaten as a child "until about 16 when I started beating back." "I started breaking into houses at 12 until I was 20. I must have robbed over 200 houses in 8 years," Lavergne wrote. He said he did many bad things, "from beating up people, to selling drugs, to murder. "I was a horrible person," he added, "And I did all that because I hated myself and couldn't stand to live. I just wanted to die." In another letter to his wife, Lavergne wrote of his love for her and the child she carried for him, a daughter born while he was in prison. "I promise I will not hit our children," Lavergne wrote. "I remember well the pain and anger I felt when my dad hit me. I pray for the sins of my father not to be passed on to me and our children. I want it to end with me." Lavergne wrote of being sorry about sexually assaulting the teen, wishing he could take it back, being unable to understand why he hurt someone who was a friend and did nothing to hurt him. www.theadvertiser.com/article/20121017/NEWS01/210170323/Brandon-Scott-Lavergne-his-journal-became-darkness-

I feel like a prisoner in my own mindftpcontent.worldnow.com/klfy/LavergneDiary.pdfBrandon Lavergne's Prison JournalJust my input on these writings. He IS a prisoner in his own mind. He goes back and forth on love. He's writing to his ex, but in reality he's writing to and about his mothers love, or lack of it, that he wasn't protected from the abuse that was shown to him by his adopted father. His real mother gave him up, she tossed him away, and now the only mother that is there in his presence isn't protecting him from abuse. This journal to me is very sad in so many ways. He took all his anger out on every other woman that came into his life, or past his eyes. What a damn shame.

New information on Texas woman whose ID found in Laveregne's home10/25/2012 09:48 PM by Erin Steuber New information tonight on the Texas woman, whose ID was found in Brandon Scott Lavergne's Church Point home. Madeline Aumiller is in her 50's. She's from the Beaumont area. Family members say they haven't heard from her in six months. As you recall, Aumiller's ID, along with her deceased father's ID, were found in Brandon Lavergne's residence during a search of his property during the Mickey Shunick investigation. But there is no known connection between Aumiller and Lavergne. Family members say they became estranged, and she stopped withdrawing from her bank account in April. But we're learning, things may change. Aumiller's brother isn't saying much, but did answer a few questions. He says he still hasn't heard from her, but has heard she's alive, and somewhere in the Fort Polk area. KATC found out there is a Madeline Aumiller listed as a lighting designer in a Fort Polk theatre production. Her brother told us he believes it's her, because she has ties to the Fort Polk area, specifically another member of the theatre group she has been friends with since the 80's. Aumiller also has a background in theatre. But, military police cannot confirm if she is the Madeline Aumiller everyone has been looking for. Lafayette Police have confirmed they're interviewing the woman to see if she's the same one whose ID was found in Lavergne's home. www.katc.com/full-coverage/searching-for-mickey-shunick/

Lavergne's video confession made publicA KATC exclusive: The video taped confession of Brandon Scott Lavergne. We know it's a story some will not want to watch, and we get that, still we think it's an important story to tell. It's the confession from Mickey Shunick's killer, Brandon Lavergne. Mickey, and her story, captivated this community, unlike anyone else in recent memory, and today we were given, what we hope is the final element of this tragedy. Another warning, many will find this report disturbing. "You ready to do this?," said an officer. "Lets get it over with," said Lavergne. On August 7th, police interviewed Brandon Lavergne. That morning, Lavergne confessed to killing Mickey Shunick and led police to her body. Police used Google maps and had Lavergne point out the location. "It's a small community cemetary completed surrounded by trees," said Lavergne. Lavergne details what happened the night he killed Mickey, he says he was playing with his phone, when he claims he accidentally hit Mickey on her bike. He didn't want to call police because he had been drinking, was a convicted felon and had a gun in his truck. He said he and Mickey agreed not to call the cops. He told her he'd give her a ride home. He says she got into his truck, but he became angry when she asked him to pay for the damage. " She reached down to grab her phone, and I just panicked and that's when I grabbed the knife. I said don't call the cops I'm not ********* playing with you, I said put down the phone. And she was just started kinda' like staring at me, she made eye contact, and she was just staring at me," said Lavergne. It was at that point Mickey maced Lavergne, so he began stabbing her. She slumped over, and that's when he starting driving to a rural area to dispose of her body. The whole time, he was thinking she was dead. "She popped up and stabbed me dead in the chest. I don't know if I was more freaked out that she stabbed me, or the fact that she was still alive. I hollered, and I shot, I shot one time, you know one time with the gun. I jumped out of the truck and I was hollering, and I just stood out there and stuff, and I was shaking and stuff, and I started throwing up," said Lavergne. Lavergne continues, saying how unreal the entire situation was. After returning home to try to clean up everything, he says he walked in, and out of the house, Mickey still in the truck. "That's when I put the gun to my head, and I said I'll just **** kill myself right now. And I was just thinking, I got my son that's about to be born, I got a daughter hopefully I'll see in the future and stuff, and what not, I can't do it. And that was it the whole time, I wasn't even thinking about her, I wasn't thinking about family, I wasn't thinking about no one but myself," said Lavergne A confessed killer, and admittedly selfish. When he got to the cemetery in Evangeline Parish, he was too injured to dig a grave. He left her and would come back later, after he received treatment. Lavergne called a friend in New Orleans, telling him he was stabbed and he needed to get out of town for a few days. Before he left though, he circled back through Lafayette to make sure police weren't alerted to the crime. He didn't see any officers on St. Landry, so he proceeded to New Orleans, dropping the bike in Whiskey Bay on the way. His friend insisted he go to the hospital, so Lavergne told them a story of a real robbery he was the victim of in Baton Rouge several years before. He stayed overnight, and he went back on Sunday to bury Mickey. As for the gun, Lavergne says it went missing from his truck the night he stayed in the hospital. He asked his friend about it. His friend denied knowing anything, so Lavergne warned him the gun was "hot". The friend would later tell Lavergne the gun was in the Mississppi River. The knife was thrown into a dumpster at his fiancé's father's home, and Mickey's book bag was burned in a trash pile. www.katc.com/full-coverage/searching-for-mickey-shunick/
