HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, AR – "Somebody please call," urged Hot Springs Village Police Lt. Ricky Middleton. "We need some help." Specifically, police need help finding mother of three and dispatcher Dawna Natzke. "She's family, and we're going to do everything we can to try to find her," said Middleton. The same can be said for a number of Natzke's friends, like Patty Hathaway. The two saw each other at a Christmas party last week in Hot Springs Village. Afterwards, Hathaway couldn’t get in touch with Natzke, which is very odd. Next thing she heard, police found Natzke's teal green 1997 Ford Escort Wagon off of Highway 298 in the Ouachita National Forest. They found it burnt. "Oh my God," said Hathaway after hearing the news. "I just couldn't believe it." Neither could friend Henry Rogers. Now, just like police, he's looking for Natzke. "I drove through this area," said Rogers while retracing his steps on Highway 298. "There's a hunting lease over here. I drove through it the other morning looking around. That was before I knew they found the car. I was looking for her car." Now, they've found the car. Rogers is still looking for Natzke. "If you're not out looking," he said, "you're not gonna find nothing." And right now, finding anything is all police, and Natzke's friends, can hope for. "A phone call from her, anything," said Hathaway. "I just want her to be found." If you know anything about Dawna Natzke's whereabouts, Hot Springs Village Police ask that you please give them a call. www.fox16.com/news/local/story/UPDATE-Hot-Springs-Village-woman-reported-missing/TRW-ou1J-Ua-TRI4Y537nw.cspx?rss=315

Authorities in Hot Springs, Arkansas are searching for a police dispatcher who has now been missing a week. - Forty six year-old Dawna Natzke was last seen with her boyfriend leaving a Christmas party from a home within the gated community of Hot Springs Village about 10:30 p.m. last Wednesday (12-21.) - The privately owned gated community, with its own private police force which employs approximately thirty officers, is home to about 12,000 residents. Natzke's son reported his mother missing about 6 a.m. Firday morning. That was about the same time her shift was to begin at the Hot Springs Village Police Department. Fellow employees became alarmed when Natzke, who has been employed by the department for the last seven years, failed to show up for her shift. "She is a conscientious employee," said Public Safety director Leroy Cornett. A U.S Parks Service employee found Natzke's teal 1997 Ford Escort "burned out" off of Highway 298 in the Ouachita National Forest about 11:15 a.m. on Thursday December 22nd. There was no one inside the vehicle. "At that time she hadn't been reported missing," said Cornett. A dog team was unsuccessful Monday (12-26) in finding the missing woman when it searched the area near where Natzke's charred car was found. The vehicle has been sent to the Arkansas State Police Crime Lab in hopes that it will aid authorities in their investigation into the woman's disappearance. Natzke's boyfriend, says he was watching T.V. when he went to bed and he has no idea how she went missing, or why her car was found burned. When asked about scratches and abrasions to the boyfriends body that appeared after Natzke's disappearance- Cornett said, "I've not been made aware of any. We have interviewed a number of people, including him, in an attempt to develop leads in our missing colleagues disappearance." Director Cornett says rumors that officers suspended their search for the missing mother of three on Friday so officers could spend the holidays with their families "are absolutely false." "One of my investigators canceled a prepaid vacation to look for her over the holiday weekend." According to Patty Hathaway, Natzke's best friend, authorities told her there has been no activity on Natzke's cell phone or credit cards in the last week. "Her disappearance is suspicious. We really don't have an identifiable crime scene and can't say for certain at this time that a crime has been committed. We're covering all our bases so if our worst fears are realized we can bring it to a successful prosecution," said Cornett. - Natzke is 5'6" with brown hair with blonde highlights and brown eyes. If you have any information about her disappearance you're asked to call the Hot Springs Village police at 504-922-0011. crimesceneinvestigations.blogspot.com/

Dawna Natzke case: Insight into Hot Springs VillageUnlike an incorporated municipality, Hot Springs Village is basically a corporation. It’s a community managed, run and ruled by the corporation and the Property Owners’ Association. The purpose of this corporation is – to make more money by selling more homes and having more citizens within the association, paying dues, assessments, etc. It should be noted that at this time the Village is experiencing a high number of community members who are turning back their lots and ceasing payment of assessments, so bad publicity that could cut down on new citizens is not what the Village wants right now. (Revenue is down by $415,000 from 2010 and uncollected assessments are projected to reach $2.95 million by the end of the year.) The Village is mainly made up of affluent retirees with the remainder being working-class people. The Village employs about 300 people with somewhere between 20 and 30 of those employees being on the “police force”. While these “officers” do go through certification and training, they spend the majority of their time assisting the elderly in the community by bringing them needed resources, like medicine, during times they may not be able to get out themselves (like ice storms, etc.) and looking for them and helping them get home when they get lost. Make no mistake, according to what I have learned the police officers in the community are good-hearted, kind people who do a good job of taking care of the citizens’ needs in their community. BUT, they are glorified security guards, and this situation is past the “department’s” skills…in other words, as the opinion was shared with me – they are in over their heads. Let’s take for instance the search that was scheduled last Friday but called off so the employees could have Christmas holiday over the weekend. That news was reported by channel 4 arkansasmatters.com, but since then the article has been removed. Now, to the logistics of the Village. There is one manned gate at night and the rest of the entrances require that a card be swiped to exit or enter. If her car exited the Village through the manned gate it would not have been stopped as it exited (only stopped on entrance). If the car went out through one of the other exits, then there will be a record of the card swipe. However, even if the car went out through the manned gate, one would think that security guard would have a recollection of when it left. You might ask – well, wouldn’t the guard have a record of her ENTERING the Village after leaving the Christmas party? No, the Christmas party was inside the Village. And, despite the fact the Village appears to have intentionally tried to keep it from hitting the media, it was actually, according to sources, an HSV employee party at the rented home of Scott Randall, the general manager of HSV. www.thehinkymeter.com/2011/12/29/dawna-natzke-case-insight-into-hot-springs-village/
