CLINTON TOWNSHIP/FRASER — The search is on for a missing Clinton Township teenager.
Danny Pfeffer, 17, is a recent graduate of Fraser High School. His mother reported him missing June 2.
Clinton Township Police Lt. Eric Reincke said Pfeffer willingly left his home around 1:30 a.m. June 2. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black shorts, orange tennis shoes and a black camouflage backpack.
Pfeffer, who was a member of the Fraser wrestling team, has brown hair, hazel eyes, is about 5-foot-9 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.
Reincke said Pfeffer’s mother, Becky Pfeffer, reportedly last saw her son on the roof of Fraser High School. Danny told her he wasn’t coming home. She left the school grounds and called police. Officers went to the scene to check for him, but he was already gone.
Danny Pfeffer legally has the right to leave his residence, Reincke explained, since he’s technically an adult. However, those under 21 years old are still considered missing.
“(Danny’s) missing, but considered a missing adult,” Reincke said. “You can freely leave. … The family is concerned for his well-being, and this is out of character for him so they’re trying to locate him obviously. We’re trying to assist them with that.”
He acknowledged that his department has received a couple tips since Pfeffer’s disappearance, but nothing that would lead authorities to his whereabouts.
Fraser Police Lt. Mike Pettyes said the Clinton Township Police Department is handling the case, with assistance from the FBI. Fraser officers are helping any way they can.
He echoed Reincke, saying that Pfeffer is not being treated as an “endangered” individual due to his age.
“He’s just missing,” Pettyes said.
On June 3, Robert Pfeffer, the father of Danny, posted photos and information on his Facebook page in an effort for others to share news of the situation.
He said his son went missing around 8:10 a.m. that morning, and he was last seen in the area of 14 Mile and Hayes roads. He said his son was also wearing a denim jacket.
“We are all worried and need him home safe,” Robert Pfeffer wrote in the post. “Please message me if you saw him or talked to him.”
Becky Pfeffer also posted on Facebook, saying that her son loves 7-Eleven locations and that people should look out for him at various establishments in the areas of Clinton Township and Utica.
On June 3, Don Drysdale, a teacher at Fraser High School, posted online asking for help locating the former student.
“It is possible that Danny has left Fraser city limits, so please be on the lookout,” Drysdale posted.
Anyone with information is asked to call Reincke at (586) 493-7856.
